Ahmadiyya community puts forward peace proposals for the Israel-Hamas war
According to Diario de Córdoba, Qamar Fazal, spokesman for the Ahmadiyya community in Spain, took part earlier this week in a conference at the Andalusian city's Faculty of Law to address the war between Israel and Hamas, putting forward proposals to achieve peace. The event was moderated by Manuel Torres, Director of the Unesco Chair in Conflict Resolution.
Shortly after the war began following the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community called for a de-escalation of the conflict and tension between Palestinians and Israelis.
The Ahmadiyya community has called for efforts by the United States and other influential nations to establish peace as soon as possible. "We pray and urge for an immediate end to hostilities and for peace to prevail so that no more lives are lost. For that, the channels of communication between the parties and relevant nations need to remain open," the community said in a statement.
Both sides have agreed to a truce brokered by Qatar, the United States and Egypt. In recent days, there has been no fighting, humanitarian aid has entered Gaza and dozens of Israeli hostages have returned home. Israel, in return, has released more than 100 Palestinian women prisoners and minors on terrorism-related charges.
