Antony Blinken y Nasser Bourita tienen su primer encuentro en Roma

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, met with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Anti-Daesh Coalition, organised in Rome on 28 June 2021 by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio and Antony Blinken.
During the congress, they will discuss how to maintain pressure on Daesh remnants in Iraq and Syria and how to counter Islamic State networks elsewhere, especially in Africa. They will also assess priorities for Coalition courses of action related to stabilisation, foreign terrorist fighters, counter-Daesh funding and counter-propaganda efforts.
The meeting between Nasser Bourita and Antony Blinken focused on developments in bilateral relations and regional issues, including the situation in Libya and the Middle East.
The two held a telephone call on 30 April, in which they welcomed the strong and enduring strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America. The US Secretary of State praised Morocco's progress in terms of political reform, economic progress and social development. Blinken also praised the Sovereign's leadership in the fight against climate change and the investments made in renewable energy, as well as the promotion of the green economy.
The two officials discussed regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Libya and the Sahel. In this regard, Blinken welcomed the role played by Morocco in a region marked by instability.
