The Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights demands that responsibilities be clarified and that the truth about the presence of the leader of the Polisario Front in Spain be established

ASADEDH calls for a parliamentary commission of enquiry into the situation of Brahim Ghali

Brahim Ghali

From the Sahrawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH) informs the general public that on 10 May 2021 letters have been sent to the Presidency of the Justice Committee of the Congress of Deputies, to the President of the Government and to most of the leaders of political parties with parliamentary representation.

In these letters ASADEDH has informed them of the entry into Spanish national territory of Mr. Brahim Ghali, Secretary General of the Polisario Front under investigation by the Spanish National Court for crimes against humanity such as rape, murder, enforced disappearances, torture and kidnapping; for these crimes he has already been summoned twice (2013 and 2016) and on both occasions he avoided appearing in court.

ASADEDH has also informed the Honourable Members that, according to the association's information, this Polisario official entered the country under a false identity with the backing, guarantees and protection of the Spanish Government.

For all these reasons, this association, in its own name and in the name of the Saharawi victims of Spanish origin or born under the Spanish flag, has requested the creation of a Commission of Inquiry to purge the responsibilities and to get to the truth, as it considers that these facts may have incurred in a possible offence of overstepping of functions.
