ASADEDH once again denounces the unsustainable situation in the Tindouf camps

The Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH) has denounced the ‘unsustainable situation’ experienced by the Saharawi population in the Tindouf camps, located in Algeria.
ASADEDH has once again raised its voice after denouncing the massacre committed on 9 April in the Daira of Argub, committed by a unit of the Algerian Army that indiscriminately machine-gunned defenceless civilians, according to an official statement issued by the Association.
ASADEDH pointed out that ‘this indiscriminate attack resulted in two victims and nine wounded, three of them very seriously’.
The Saharawi people who live in the refugee camps located in Algerian territory live in very difficult conditions and there are reports of abuse, repression and violence, in some cases deadly, at the hands of the Algerian security forces and authorities, as has been denounced by ASADEDH and other institutions.
Below is the official statement from ASADEDH:
We, the Saharawi Association for the Defence of Human Rights (ASADEDH), denounce the unsustainable situation of our people in the Tindouf camps, caught between the repression exercised by the Polisario Front's paramilitary forces and the daily persecution they suffer at the hands of the Algerian army.
Through this communiqué we wish to express our strongest condemnation and indignation at the massacre committed yesterday, 9 April 2025, in the Daira of Argub in the Dakhla camp (150 km from Rabuni, the administrative capital of Polisario), by a unit of the Algerian Army that indiscriminately machine-gunned defenceless civilians.
This indiscriminate attack resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries, three of them very serious.
So far, only one of the fatalities has been identified: Sidahmed Bellali, a resident of the Daira of Argub (Dakhla Camp), R.I.P.
It should be noted that the inhabitants of this Daira and neighbouring Dairas have demonstrated after this serious action by the Algerian Army and there has been great tension in the area until the early hours of the morning.
For this reason, we, the Association, are requesting urgent intervention to protect our defenceless population in the Tindouf camps.
Likewise, we are calling on all organisations and human rights defenders to intervene and denounce the repeated interventions of the Algerian Army against defenceless civilians.
