Czech Republic backs Morocco's autonomy plan for Western Sahara

The Czech Republic expressed its agreement that the Kingdom of Morocco should adopt serious and credible measures and an agreed solution between the parties in order to resolve the question of Western Sahara. This position was expressed in a joint declaration signed in Prague by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavski.
Both sides reaffirmed their support for Staffan de Mistura, the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Special Envoy, and his efforts to advance the political process based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
In a joint statement, Bourita and Lipavski reaffirmed their support for the UN mission of MINURSO. The Czech Republic welcomed "the reforms carried out by the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI".

In the joint declaration signed in Prague by the two ministers, the Czech Republic welcomed the efforts of the Moroccan kingdom. Political, economic and social development, especially through new models, are the basis of the agreement.
On this occasion, the two ministers underlined the importance of deepening the historical relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Czech Republic. Accordingly, the two diplomatic representatives expressed their common will to "further strengthen the excellent partnership between the two countries".

The two ministers also expressed their commitment to continue dialogue and expand cooperation in all fields. They welcomed the increase in trade between the two countries in recent years and the investment of Czech companies in the Kingdom of Morocco. Bourita and Lipavski agreed to further develop exchanges of visits, including economic missions, and to deepen economic cooperation.

Relations between Prague and Rabat are very consistent. Prior to this meeting, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, and his Czech counterpart, Martin Kupka, who met in Munich, focused their efforts on finding ways to strengthen transport cooperation between Morocco and the Czech Republic.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss several issues of common interest, including Morocco's railway potential, the development of air and rail transport cooperation between the two countries and Morocco's participation in the 27th World Road Congress.
In this context, Abdeljalil affirmed that the two countries would continue exchanges between the two countries to strengthen air links, promote the development of tourism, especially from the Czech Republic to Morocco, and promote cooperation in this field. Minister Kupka stressed the importance of the Kingdom's attractive potential for his country and underlined his interest in strengthening relations between the two countries in various fields, especially in transport.
