Daria Duguina, daughter of the leader of the neo-Eurasianist movement, Alexander Duguin, a Kremlin theoretician and close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was killed when a bomb exploded in the car she was driving, the Investigative Committee of Russia (IRC) said today.

According to the RIC, the explosion occurred at around 21:00 Moscow time (18:00 GMT) last night when Duguina, 29, a journalist and political scientist, was driving on a road outside Moscow

The leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, directly accused the Kiev government of being behind the attack. "In an attempt to eliminate Alexandr Duguin, terrorists of the Ukrainian regime have killed his daughter," he wrote on Telegram.

Russian senator Andrei Klishas, meanwhile, called the attack an "enemy attack" and demanded that the perpetrators and masterminds be brought to justice.

Philosopher Alexander Duguin, 60, considered one of the most influential ideologues in Kremlin policy in recent years, has been under US sanctions since 2015 for "actions or policies that threaten the peace, security, stability or sovereignty or territorial integrity of Ukraine".

In March 2022, after the start of the Russian "special military operation" in Ukraine, his late daughter was also sanctioned by the US for her work as director of the website United World International (UWI), described by Washington as "a means of disinformation".
