Hammouchi appoints 11 new senior security officials in several Moroccan cities

The new appointments announced by the director general of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, aim to centralise the public security administration. The new appointments include the deputy head of the security area at Casablanca's Mohammed V international airport, a team leader affiliated with the State Department of Public Information in Ojuda and the head of Casablanca's tourism team. 

According to a report published by the DGSN, the new posts are part of a permanent work dynamic aimed at increasing the efficiency and productivity of police officers, rotating them through centres of responsibility and handing over the field management of police units to highly qualified professionals, qualified security personnel capable of developing work plans to improve citizen security and ensure the security of property. 

The Moroccan government has taken a step forward to strengthen citizen security in the country. Recently, new officials have been appointed in the field of security. First, three heads of security departments have been appointed in Casablanca, Ait Melloul and Kenitra. These officials will be responsible for leading security efforts in their respective regions and will work closely with local and national authorities to ensure citizen security. 

In addition, two security frameworks have been appointed to head the road traffic divisions in Bouznika and Yahya Al-Gharb. These departments will be responsible for monitoring and controlling traffic in their respective regions, working closely with the traffic and security services to ensure safety on the roads and highways. 

Finally, two chief administrative attachés of the police have been appointed in Imzouren and Smara. These officers will be responsible for overseeing and managing police resources in their respective regions, working closely with local and national authorities to ensure citizen security.  

Security is a key issue in Morocco. However, the Directorate General of Territorial Security (DGST) is often confused with the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).  The DGST focuses on territorial security, i.e. security in cities, towns and rural areas. It is in charge of crime prevention, investigation and protection of the civilian population.  

On the other hand, the DGSN focuses on national security, i.e. the fight against terrorism, border security and international cooperation. The DGSN is the highest agency in the country and is responsible for coordinating national security. 

Although the two agencies have different objectives, they work together to keep Morocco safe. The DGST focuses on security at the local level, while the DGSN focuses on security at the national level. Together, the two agencies work to keep Morocco safe and protect its population. 

Since 2005, both agencies have invested in infrastructure and law enforcement improvements to keep Morocco safe. The DGST has upgraded its facilities and technology to improve effectiveness in the fight against crime and the DGSN to improve counter-terrorism and border security. 

As part of a series of important appointments, security frameworks were established in key positions in the decentralised services of public security and police administrative management. These appointments were aimed at strengthening the organisational structure and efficiency of the security services in Morocco.
