Head of Al Aqsa Mosque expresses deep gratitude to King Mohammed VI

The head of Al Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar al-Kiswan, thanked HM King Mohammed VI for his support to the Palestinian population in Gaza through a humanitarian medical aid operation. The operation includes the shipment of more than 40 tons of medical products such as essential medicines, first aid products and medical devices for any kind of diagnosis.
The aid ordered by HM includes 40 tonnes of medical supplies, including, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for African Cooperation, equipment for the treatment of burns and surgical and trauma procedures, as well as the necessary medicines, adding that these health products affect both adults and children.

"This gesture of generosity comes at an opportune time to greatly alleviate the urgent needs for medical supplies and aid in Gaza, which is facing a real humanitarian crisis," Al-Kiswan said in a letter published by Al Aqsa's communications department.

In a context of escalation, the entry of humanitarian aid packages of such calibre is a difficult act to carry out, but the mosque's director said that "it is of the utmost importance" that this aid reaches the Palestinian people. According to figures from the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 37,000 Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives since the 7 October attacks.
"The delivery of this aid by land is of particular importance in a situation marked by escalation and obstacles to the flow of humanitarian aid, demonstrating the King's personal commitment to the proper delivery of this aid," he continued.

The head of Al-Aqsa Mosque said: "I cannot help but express my sincere thanks to His Majesty Mohammed VI for the support given to our people in the Gaza Strip, especially in providing this party with the necessary medical supplies".
He therefore expressed his hope that the ongoing efforts will succeed and pave the way for ending the war by sending more aid, lifting the blockade and returning to normal life in the Gaza Strip. According to Morocco Intelligence, Moroccan humanitarian aid will reach Palestine through the Kerem Shalom crossing, located in the southern part of the Strip and connecting the Palestinian area of Rafah with Israeli territory.

According to sources from the Moroccan Foreign Ministry, the humanitarian aid package arrived on Sunday via four military cargo planes that landed at Ben Guiron International Airport.

Aid to Palestine crosses borders. In a conversation with the Moroccan public news agency MAP, Jean Claude Martinez, professor emeritus of law at the University of Paris-II, said that "this is an action that is part of a long tradition of active solidarity with the Palestinian people and a logic of coherence in Rabat's foreign policy". "Morocco is also in "a position of facilitator and mediator of peace", he added.

"With the same coherence and pragmatism of its foreign policy and relying on the place and leadership of HM the King, it achieved this extraordinary humanitarian breakthrough by delivering aid for the second time by land to the populations of Gaza", he concluded.
Sustaining humanitarian aid deliveries is crucial for the survival of thousands of citizens, mostly women and children. Facilitating the passage of material into the Strip is a challenge for the authorities. Controlling who comes in and who goes out is a very important task as Hamas proxies constantly try to send military equipment into Gaza.
