Iran issues arrest warrant for Trump for murder of General Soleimani

Iran announced on Monday that it has issued an arrest warrant, of which it has notified Interpol, against US President Donald Trump and 35 other individuals for the assassination last January of the powerful Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr explained that these 36 "politically and militarily responsible individuals from the United States and also from other countries were involved in the assassination of General Soleimani.
"An arrest warrant has been issued and the international police have been requested to put out a red alert," said Alqasimehr, quoted by the official agency IRNA. An Interpol Red Notice, the highest level of alert, is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender or similar legal action.
The prosecutor also detailed that the charges against the 36 individuals, including Trump, are "murder" and "terrorist act". Alqasimehr only revealed Trump's identity and stated that Iran will pursue his prosecution even after his term as president ends. However, Interpol is unlikely to agree to Iran's request since its rules prohibit it from "engaging in any intervention or activity of a political nature.
Soleimani, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard's Quds Force, was killed along with Iraqi Popular Crowd number two and Kata'ib Hezbollah chief Abu Mahdi al Mohandes in a targeted U.S. bombing in Baghdad on January 3. In retaliation, Iran attacked a week later with missiles a military base with the presence of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, which almost led to a direct conflict between Tehran and Washington.
In mid-February, the head of Iran's judiciary, Ebrahim Raisí, announced that they were working with Iraq to bring Soleimani's murder to international attention.
