Mohammed VI appoints Abdellah Boutrig as Director General of the General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI)

The appointment is expected to help strengthen Morocco's position as a key player in the North African region in the field of digital security

Morocco has taken another step forward in security with the appointment of Abdellah Boutrig as the new Director General of the General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI) by King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The announcement was officially published on the DGSSI website. 

For Morocco, security is a matter of state. Boutrig's arrival reflects the country's efforts to improve its national cybersecurity system in line with its cybersecurity strategy. The appointment represents a commitment to the digital space as the cornerstone of digital transition and sovereignty. 

Boutrig was chosen for his extensive academic and military experience. With degrees in engineering from the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (INESA) and the Royal Military Academy of Meknes, Boutrig has a broad educational background that has been recognised by the King, who has appointed him to one of the highest positions in national security. 

Abdellah Boutrig also obtained one of the highest marks in the General Staff and Higher Defence training courses, earning a master's degree in Security and Defence from the Royal School of Military Studies. 

During his career spanning more than 40 years, Boutrig has held various positions, including Director of Assistance, Training, Control and Experience at the Information Systems Security Directorate, and Deputy Director of Communications for the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
