Mohammed VI receives in Casablanca the president of Mauritania

An official statement from the Royal Cabinet has informed of the meeting at the Royal Palace of Casablanca between King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, at a key moment for the stability and development of North Africa with the Atlantic initiative launched by the Moroccan monarch which is aimed at benefiting the economies of the Sahel countries and strengthening their institutions.

The Moroccan royal statement said that “this meeting is part of the solid relations of trust and cooperation between the two countries, and the ties of sincere brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples. During this meeting, the leaders of the two countries appreciated the positive developments registered by the Moroccan-Moroccan partnership in all fields.
They also stressed their interest in developing strategic projects to unite the two neighboring countries, as well as in coordinating their contribution within the framework of the Royal initiatives in Africa, in particular the African-Atlantic gas pipeline, and the initiative to facilitate the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.

African leadership
This private visit to Morocco by the Mauritanian president comes a few days after an impromptu trip to Mauritania by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to participate in the Continental Conference on Education, Youth and Employability, organized by the African Union (AU) in the country's capital, Nouakchott, on December 9, 10 and 11. The first visit of an Algerian president to Mauritania in 37 years.

Mohammed VI in his official speeches has maintained his outstretched hand to Algeria to recover good relations, despite the aggressive position of the Algerian government and institutions towards Morocco with strange movements in the Sahel and with the intention of isolating Morocco in its relations with Maghreb countries such as Tunisia and Libya, where the Moroccan role of intermediation to achieve a definitive and stable solution for Libya has been reinforced with the sessions held in the Moroccan town of Bouznika between members of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

In addition, Mohammed VI's African leadership role was demonstrated this week by his mediation in securing the release of four French citizens held for a year in Burkina Faso. France expressed its public recognition of the Moroccan king's work in this case.
Mauritanian President's wife recovering in Morocco
The first lady of Mauritania, Meriem Bint Dah, wife of President Mohammed Ould Sheikh Ghazouani, operated on at the military hospital in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, has expressed her deep gratitude to the Mauritanian people for the wave of solidarity and sincere prayers she received following her recent illness.
In a statement issued by the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Al-Ghazwani's wife thanked all citizens from various parts of the country who expressed their interest and sympathy towards her, noting that these good feelings and touching invitations had been a great positive impact on her morale and contributed to improving her health condition.

The statement confirmed that Bint Al-Dah is in a state of continuous improvement, praising the spontaneous popular outburst that demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and love among the members of the society. He also expressed his sincere thanks to all those who visited her or provided support. at this stage, stressing that she is on the way to a full recovery.
It is noteworthy that the Mauritanian president had left his country the day before yesterday Wednesday afternoon for Morocco, on a “private visit”, the Mauritanian news agency reported, without disclosing details, while media sources reported that Ould Ghazouani is visiting the Kingdom to check on the health situation of his wife, who is being treated by a Moroccan medical team.
