Moroccan police join the security of the Olympic Games in Paris
The threat of terrorist acts remains an issue of concern in France, especially with the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris just around the corner. French authorities have expressed fears that the city could be the target of terrorist attacks during the opening ceremony.
The talks focused on finding ways to work together to combat terrorism and organised crime. They discussed the importance of sharing intelligence and operational data to combat extremist threats and transnational crime networks.
Hammouchi also met with the Director General of the French National Police, Frederic Veaux, and discussed cooperation and coordination in different areas of security. They focused on developing proactive mechanisms for risk assessment and data sharing to ensure the security of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
In recognition of the exemplary cooperation between Morocco and France in security matters, Hammouchi received the Gold Medal of Honour from the French National Police.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as the smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, illegal migration and human trafficking. Practical mechanisms for cooperation in implementing joint security measures and operations were also discussed.
Cooperation between Morocco and France on security matters is not new. Last June, Hammouchi visited France and met with several French security officials to discuss the fight against terrorism and organised crime. During this visit, it was agreed to strengthen the terms of partnership and bilateral cooperation in the fight against these threats.
The partnership between Morocco and France is an example of the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organised crime. By working together, these countries can share intelligence and operational data to combat extremist and transnational criminal threats.
