Abdellatif Hammouchi, head of Morocco's Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), visited Paris to meet with Celine Berthon, French Director General of Internal Security (DGSI), and Nicolas Lerner, French Director General of External Security (DGSE), to discuss joint security and defence strategies ahead of the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Morocco is a reliable partner of many important countries such as the United States, Spain and France itself in maintaining security and fighting against international terrorist groups and various criminal gangs, and this is demonstrated by the meetings at the highest level in which the Moroccan kingdom plays a leading role.

In fact, Abdellatif Hammouchi himself was recently invited by Germany to analyse bilateral security cooperation and review the results of mutual police collaboration just as the European Football Championship was being held in Germany.

Hammouchi met with officials from the German Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office to discuss security cooperation. The Moroccan kingdom's security chief held special working meetings with the president of the German Federal Police, Dieter Romann, and the president of the Criminal Police, Holger Munch, according to an official statement from the Moroccan DGSN, which stressed that the purpose of the visit was to demonstrate the importance of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

During his visit to France, Abdellatif Hammouchi and French officials discussed strategies for maintaining security in the run-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Abdellatif Hammouchi undertook this working visit to France at the invitation of the French security services. During his visit, he held talks with officials from the French National Police, internal security and external security.

The talks focused on mechanisms to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas of common security interest, according to the official communiqué issued by the Moroccan DGSN.

The discussions focused on ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organised crime. They also aimed to raise the levels of coordination and exchange of intelligence and operational data related to threats from extremist organisations and transnational crime networks.

The two officials reviewed advanced cooperation and coordination mechanisms in various security areas, in particular proactive risk assessment and information sharing mechanisms in their joint efforts to ensure security during the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

In recognition of the excellent relations between France and Morocco and the figure of Abdellatif Hammouchi, he received the Gold Medal of Honour from the French National Police for his efforts in strengthening and developing cooperation in common security matters.
