Security in West Africa

In the midst of the tensions and instability that the West African region is experiencing, especially in the Sahel, Morocco's role as a key player in maintaining security and peace is highlighted.

The daily Rue20 picked up a report by the Panamanian daily En Segundos where it noted that Morocco, with its prominent geographical location on the Atlantic coast, is considered a bulwark against turbulence in the region, thus contributing to maintaining stability in a tumultuous environment.

The report highlighted Morocco's efforts to revitalize the Sahara region, considered as a natural shield for the Sahel countries, which contributes to mitigating turbulences in the region through important economic projects that would benefit all neighboring countries.

He also highlighted the Atlantic initiative proposed by King Mohammed VI, which offers Sahel countries without direct access to the sea the opportunity to use the Moroccan maritime infrastructure in the Sahara to develop a port in the Atlantic.

This is seen as an opportunity to boost the economy of these countries, encourage foreign investment and extend influence from the Atlantic seaboard, as the King stressed in his last Green March speech.

The Central American newspaper also shed light on the relevance of Morocco's role in the region, being the gateway to Africa for international partners, especially the European Union, which relies on Morocco to fight illegal migration together with Senegal and Mauritania.
In short, Rabat presents itself as a key player in containing many of the threats arising from the turbulence in the Sahel region, contributing significantly to maintaining peace and promoting the values of cooperation, with the ambition to move forward.
