The Chinese ambassador to Morocco, Li Changlin, considered that relations between Rabat and Beijing are marked by a "strategic partnership enriched by new contents"

Relations between Morocco and China were the focus of the speech given by the Chinese Ambassador to Rabat, Li Changlin, in an interview with the Moroccan news agency MAP. "Sino-Moroccan cooperation is working well. The strategic partnership between the two countries has been enriched with new content," announced the Chinese ambassador.

During the interview, the diplomat highlighted the relations and agreements in common between the two countries, in addition to the good relationship between the two leaders, Mohammed VI and Xi Jinping. Changlin affirmed that the two heads of state exchange letters and messages that have further consolidated mutual political trust.

One of the most recent such cooperation has been the common fight against the health crisis caused by COVID-19. China delivered all the Sinopharm vaccines to Morocco, as well as helping the Alawi kingdom to produce the same vaccine on its territory, as agreed by the Moroccan Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, and the president of the Chinese pharmaceutical group, Liu Jingzhen.

On another note, the Chinese ambassador recalled the achievements of Chinese diplomacy during the year 2021 with the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in many international forums, especially at the eighth ministerial conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Dakar. The conference highlighted China's proposals in Africa, such as the fight against pandemics, economic recovery and the fight against climate change.

To this end, and as Changlin pointed out in the interview, special importance has been given to the China Global Development Initiative and the acceleration of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the promotion of development with innovation and the identification of new engines of economic growth. "This initiative is open to all countries, including Morocco," said the Chinese diplomat.

Trade relations between the two countries were also a turning point for the ambassador. The latter pointed out that trade amounted to around 6 billion dollars in 2021, which is a new historical record in common figures. Proof of this, according to Changlin, is the development of the Tanger Tech project, whereby several Chinese companies have set up or are planning to set up in Morocco, especially in the wind turbine manufacturing sector.

Following the line of economic cooperation, the Chinese representative highlighted the Atelier Luban project, which promotes the training of young Moroccans in the field of cross-border e-commerce. This project was inaugurated this month in Casablanca and enabled 361 Moroccans to benefit from this education.

Not only have these political and economic relations been maintained between Morocco and China, but cultural exchange has also been mentioned. The Chinese Cultural Centre in Rabat is proof of the cultural activities it has organised online and offline throughout the year.
