During a week in the Alawi kingdom, the two sides will seek mutual cooperation in key sectors, once again demonstrating the good relations between the two countries

Morocco and the United States continue to consolidate their diplomatic relations. A delegation of US attorneys general is visiting the Alawi kingdom to further explore opportunities for mutual collaboration in key sectors. They will be in the Kingdom for a week until 28 May. It is a large delegation that includes prominent figures such as Lynn Fitch, who is among Time magazine's 100 most influential Americans this year.

During the week-long visit, the prosecutors will travel to different cities in Morocco, where they will meet with leading figures from the government, the economy, business, etc. There, they will try to explore new areas of cooperation in different sectors such as industry, but they will also observe the progress of the Moroccan judicial system and how to improve it.

The agenda of places and people the US officials will meet shows that the visit is of vital importance. Upon arrival, the prosecutors met with senior leaders, including Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

Earlier in the day, the US delegation held a meeting with officials from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). Press coverage of the event highlights the visit to one of the key security units, primarily aimed at combating terrorist threats and armed groups.

A few days later, the prosecutors met with Mohamed Abdennabaoui, President of the Moroccan Court of Cassation and Vice-President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary. At this meeting, they discussed the judicial system in both countries, where the United States wants to support and assist its ally in improving it

However, the delegation also held a series of meetings with the Rabita Mohammedia de Oulemas. This is the most important organisation studying Islamic scholarship in the Kingdom. They also visited the Mohammed VI Institute. This centre has already been commended for its work in the fight against terrorism by an American report.

"The institution's mission is to counter radicalisation to violence by producing academic research, revising curricula, and conducting outreach to youth on religious and social issues," the US report states. At the research centre, prosecutors were interested in training imams.

They later travelled to Tangier, where the delegation of prosecutors had the opportunity to visit the American Legation. This is a unique historical monument in the world, as it is the first American public property located outside the United States. It is a cultural and historical representation of the relations between the two sides. They then visited the port of Tangier Med, where they were able to see Morocco's efforts in such an innovative project.

The prosecutors are still on an official visit to the Maghreb kingdom. One of their stops is expected to be Marrakech. There, the delegation will visit historic and famous sites in the area such as the Jeema El Fna market and the city's souk, the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. They will then have the opportunity to explore one of the most famous and coveted luxury hotels in the world, La Mamounia.

Once again, the good and growing ties between the two countries are once again reflected. In recent times, the two sides have become very key allies in working on joint projects. This is because the United States recognised Moroccan sovereignty over the territory of Western Sahara, both under the past administration of Donald Trump and the current administration of Joe Biden.

The relationship between the two countries is so good that even the US administration's websites show Morocco's map with the Western Sahara region included in its geography. This reflects the US's full confidence in Morocco's plan for the region and strengthens its ties.

Security and military armaments are a recurring theme in relations between the two countries, as this is the sector where they cooperate the most. The United States has congratulated Morocco on several occasions for its effectiveness in the fight against terrorism, and several partnerships have already been set up in this area.
