The Non-Aligned Countries commend the role played and continues to be played by the Beit Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, as the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee headed by the King of Morocco, in maintaining the legal status and identity of the Holy City, as well as in protecting the places of worship.

The Non-Aligned Movement concluded on Saturday its 19th day summit held in a city in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, which focused mainly on the Palestinian issue and developments in Gaza in light of the ongoing bloody Israeli aggression in the Palestinian Strip.

The Kampala Summit was an opportunity to highlight efforts to support Palestinian rights. Heads of State and Government participating in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit commended the pivotal role of the OIC Al-Quds Committee chaired by Moroccan King Mohammed VI in upholding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign and viable state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Plan aimed at establishing two internationally recognized independent states.

These are demands that Morocco has repeatedly stressed its legitimacy, while emphasizing that peace is a strategic option and the need to end the conflict through dialogue and political negotiations.

This praise comes as a culmination of King Mohammed VI's efforts and humanitarian and political initiatives in support of the Palestinian people and also refutes the biased accusations and accusations that attacked Morocco on more than one occasion from media platforms taught by lobbyists against the Kingdom that questioned Rabat's role in supporting the Palestinian cause.

In 2020, after signing the peace agreement with Israel, known as the Abraham Peace Agreement, and the resumption of diplomatic relations after a long break, Morocco confirmed that the agreement does not affect the Kingdom's firm position on supporting Palestinian rights and their just and legitimate demands.

The Ibrahimi agreement is also signed by the UAE and Bahrain, while Sudan was scheduled to join them, but the conflict, which erupted in mid-April, prevented its finalization.

In the final communiqué adopted by the heads of state and government, the Non-Aligned Movement praised "the political, humanitarian and social initiatives and efforts undertaken by Morocco under the leadership of Moroccan King Mohammed VI, in order to preserve the legitimate interests and demands of the Palestinian people."

He also praised the role played and still being played by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, as the executive arm of the Commission, in preserving the legal status and identity of the Holy City, as well as in protecting the places of worship.

Last Wednesday, the Moroccan monarch directed the allocation of additional scholarships for Palestinian students studying in the Kingdom, while this humanitarian gesture adds to many of the initiatives launched by Morocco since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, within the framework of its firm stance on supporting the Palestinian cause in real words, far from political offers.

The Moroccan Foreign Ministry said at the time that "the number of these scholarships is around 100 and benefits Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip registered in universities and higher institutes in various regions of the Kingdom."

"This noble royal initiative comes within the framework of King Mohammed VI's generous and univocal attention to the just and steadfast Palestinian cause and effective solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in these difficult circumstances," he added.

He concluded by saying that King Mohammed VI "ordered that these scholarships be made immediately available to Palestinian students who meet the necessary conditions in coordination with the Palestinian Authority."

Under the supervision of King Mohammed VI, Beit Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency has also managed to complete a package of residential, health, educational and social projects for the benefit of Jerusalemites, which has improved the living conditions of a percentage of Jerusalemites.

On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29, the Moroccan King stressed that "the worsening humanitarian disaster in Gaza and the continuing offensive against civilians challenge the conscience of the international community, especially the active forces and the Security Council as the UN mechanism responsible for maintaining security, stability and peace in the world to come out of the division and speak with one voice in order to take a decisive and binding decision to impose an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and respect for international law and international humanitarian law."

He stressed the Kingdom's vision, which "considers peace as a strategic option for the peoples of the region and is the only way to ensure security and stability for all its peoples and protect it from the cycle of violence and wars," adding that "this peace we seek is the key to the two-state solution, as the realistic solution agreed by the international community, which can only be achieved through the path of negotiation."

Morocco was proactive in sending dozens of tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and strongly condemned the attack on civilians, recalling its approach to the Palestinian issue, which is based on dialogue and compliance with resolutions of international legitimacy and the principle of a two-state solution.

Last October, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, during a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo, confirmed the Kingdom's readiness to participate in any international effort aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
