Open letter to the Minister for Equality Irene Montero, yesterday praised and today abandoned

Your Excellency, Minister of Equality, Irene María Montero Gil, Supreme Priestess of Minerva, Roman goddess of wisdom, and spiritual guide of the world's scientific feminist ultra-feminism. 

I bow before your exalted figure and unveil myself before Your Honour who, as godmother of the Organic Law of Integral Guarantee of Sexual Freedom - better known as the Law of Yes is Yes - has sponsored the humanitarian measures that have succeeded in redeeming a significant number of those sentenced to prison for raping, assaulting, sexually abusing, beating or vilifying innocent women and girls. 

As your most ardent admirer, I come to bring to your attention the immense danger that looms over your sponsored Yes is Yes Law. Your great piece of legislation in defence of outraged women, the benchmark of the world's legal order, is about to be betrayed, overthrown, trampled underfoot and dragged to the ground. Such deplorable action is the fruit of the unhealthy envy professed by those who claim to be your political allies. 

President Pedro Sánchez, the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, the Government Spokesperson Minister, Isabel Rodríguez, and even Pilar Alegría, the spokesperson of the PSOE's Federal Executive - who in her spare time acts as Minister of Education - and the entire opposition have conspired to sink the incomparable legislative architecture of their sleepless nights into misery. 

Oh, cruel world! Those who until a few days ago were ardently defending the "Yes is Yes" law and were gushing with declarations that described it as "the great conquest of the feminist movement", overnight are mercilessly attacking it "because of undesired effects", a euphemism that they repeat like parrots... And they say so now, when more than a hundred days have passed since the Law came into force. What agility to recognise and assume blunders like the top of a pine tree! 

These envious people want to modify the legislative perfection that radiates from their "Yes is Yes" Law. They are jealous of Your Excellency's magnanimity, which has led to the release from prison of around thirty convicts and the reduction of sentences for what, according to those who keep the accounts, are already more than 300 offenders for sexual assaults.  

Thanks to the immeasurable benevolent and selfless work of Your Excellency, the sentence reductions brought about by the Yes is Yes Law have allowed many rapists to walk the streets, to the distress of the women and girls who have been assaulted. Unfortunately, there are some who can't stand your benevolent spirit and hold a grudge against you. 

But the majority of the Spanish population perceives Your Excellency as the purest, most learned and intelligent minister that Spain has produced in its more than five centuries of history. This is largely the consequence of her diligent words at rallies, assemblies and in the Congress of Deputies, always moderate, without one sentence louder than another towards her political opponents. It is not for nothing that you are rumoured to be a practising Catholic in private, even a supernumerary of Opus Dei.  

The tenderness that radiates from her face at all times, the cordiality of her mannerisms and her exquisite and delicate vocabulary make millions of Spaniards recognise Her Excellency as the reincarnation of Dolores Ibárruri, La Pasionaria, secretary general of the Communist Party of Spain, after the Civil War she lived in Moscow, in the capital of the then Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, sheltered first by that illustrious man of peace called Stalin and then by Nikita Khrushchev, a shoe fetishist. 

Your Excellency, Minister, turn a deaf ear to those who call you incompetent, ignorant and stupid, who tell you that your attitude is arrogant and haughty, who rebuke you for refusing to see the reality of what is happening, that you are intransigent, that you have promoted a law that is a legal aberration, that you are arrogant and lacking in knowledge, that you despise the harm that your law is causing to the victims of sexual aggression. Nor should you pay any attention to everyone who reminds you that to rectify is wise. 

Your Excellency, you keep on going on and on... don't pay any attention. As the godmother of the Law, that to rectify is for the wise is pure bullshit. So stick to your guns and, as you have stressed you are going to do, present battle "to the political right, the judicial right and the media right". Ask your close friend Margarita Robles, Minister of Defence, for Leopard tanks, which she is sure to provide. 

Your billions of sympathisers all over the world must see that Your Excellency is the reincarnation of La Pasionaria. Their north must be the No pasarán! Not a step backwards! Break ranks! Stand firm! To me the Legion! 

When you have moments of weakness, listen to the voices of your praetorian guard, of your ultra-feminist faithful, of those angelic comrades in the ranks who have defended tooth and nail the application of the Law of Yes is Yes. Those who whisper in her ear "Irene, how great you are" and predict a great future for her as captain of the podemite hosts. The same women who, with their fine sense of smell, have detected the immeasurable plot hatched by judges. 

Your Excellency is well aware that these women full of virtue and goodness are Ione Belarra, Minister for Social Rights and Agenda 2030, Secretary General of Podemos, who describes herself as an eco-feminist. Ángela Rodríguez Pam, her secretary of state for Equality and against Gender Violence, Her Honour's right-hand woman and a late-medieval intellectual. 

Also Victoria Rosell, a magistrate who holds the post of Government Delegate against Gender Violence and who assures us on her Twitter account that "I don't belong to any party". And, of course, Isabel Serra, spokesperson for Podemos and a great speaker. Keep them in mind. Together with Her Excellency, they are called to be candidates for the Nobel Prize for Legal Literature. 

By the way, if the forces of Avernus promoting the harassment and demolition of the Yes is Yes Law, the crowning work of the universal legislative order, achieve their goal, Your Honour should not give it all up for lost. You will still have more than 300 votes left for your political candidacy which, foreseeably, will be deposited in the ballot boxes of the next municipal, regional and general elections by those whom you have partially or almost completely redeemed from their penalties. 

And I would be grateful if you could send me the book that I am told you are writing: "How to be an ultra-feminist, dictate laws to redeem sex offenders and not even bat an eyelid". If possible, with a dedication included. Yours most affectionately, the author.
