Hadj Ahmed Bericalla, first secretary of the Saharawi Movement for Peace manages to take steps forward in his initiative to achieve a seat at the negotiating table that the United Nations should convene as soon as possible to negotiate a peaceful, viable, credible and accepted by all to the Sahara conflict. Bericalla had the clear support of the tribal leaders of the Moroccan Sahara and of several notables in Tindouf who dared to do so by sending a letter.

Ahmed Bericalla presented once again the MSP, at the 2nd International Conference on the Sahara being held in Dakar, capital of Senegal, as a third way between Morocco and Algeria, an alternative to the Polisario Front, with peaceful and realistic arguments to put an end to more than 48 years of suffering of the Saharawis living in the Tindouf camps on Algerian soil.

 The MSP accepts the Moroccan proposal for a broad autonomy for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty as a starting point for negotiating and putting on the table the most relevant questions for the development of the institutions and the economic, fiscal, social and all other policies of the Sahara.

Hadj Hamed recognized the sovereignty of the King of Morocco, Mohamed VI, on the Sahara in general, and on key aspects such as Defense and the maintenance of order, Foreign Affairs and Religion, as it holds in the rest of the Kingdom. He detailed his proposals as a realistic, viable and credible plan which brings concrete and tangible solutions to the day-to-day questions of the Saharawis.

The first secretary of the MSP read the letter of support sent by tribal notables from the camps in Tindouf and received in person the embrace and recognition of the tribal leader who intervened in the Conference pointing out that the tribal chiefs are the legitimate representatives of the Saharawis and appealed to the Saharawis in Tindouf to join their families in the Sahara. 
 
The tribal leader of El Ayoun publicly expressed his support for the positions of the SPM for dialogue and peace in order to achieve a solution to the conflict with the relevant negotiation with Morocco and claimed a seat at the negotiating table which could be convened by the UN.

The conference became a global framework with Saharawi representatives of all places and status, with the exception of the representatives of the Polisario Front who refused the invitation received to participate and expose their points of view.
 
Among the international personalities who showed their support to the MSP during their participation, Spanish socialist representatives such as the former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the former president of the Congress, José Bono, who was in person in Dakar, and the MEP Juan Fernando López Aguilar, who sent a video.

In his video intervention, Zapatero assured that the MSP proposes a fruitful dialogue with Morocco for the resolution of the Sahara conflict and is the movement which can lead the Saharawi people to build their self-government, to solve the socio-economic problems, human rights and the unity of the Saharawi people, but also to share politically their situation with the States and to discuss it with the international community. 
 
The socialist leader underlined the initiative of the movement to maintain a real dialogue with Morocco for the good of the Saharawi population, based on exchange and understanding, without the use of force; with the most innovative democratic project that could exist to date for the future of the Sahara. 
Zapatero stated that the MSP is a movement that deserves respect, support and consideration. In fact, it was he who anticipated the future for a better resolution of the Sahara conflict.

José Bono made a historical review of the events in the Sahara to affirm that Western Sahara is not an occupied territory, he recalled Nelson Mandela and his recognition of the solidarity he found in Morocco, to conclude that an independent state in the Sahara is not viable and the clearest and most credible solution is the one proposed by the MSP.
