Santander proposes several collaboration projects to the Emirates

Santander and the United Arab Emirates have laid the foundations for a new stage in their relations following the meetings held by the Emirate Ambassador, Majid al-Suwaidi, in the city on the occasion of his participation in the seminar 'Public Diplomacy and Cultural Cities: Shared Experiences', Santander-United Arab Emirates.
The Mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, presented the Emirate representative with a series of collaboration projects that would make them viable and involve a greater presence of the Arab country in the Cantabrian capital.
Igual was very satisfied with the content of her meeting with Al-Suwaidi and her willingness to study the proposed collaboration projects.

The Ambassador of the Emirates had several contacts with representatives of the political and economic sector of Cantabria the day before. During his meeting with the Regional Minister for the Presidency, Home Affairs, Justice and External Action, Paula Fernández, various options were opened up to boost investment and trade relations, as well as to activate new lines of cooperation in the field of industry, research, education and culture, which are materialised in the intention to build an industrial estate and logistics centre in Llano de la Pasiega, as well as the Comillas Foundation project for teaching Spanish and holding meetings in the Altamira Museum.

With the representative of the CEOE in Cantabria, Enrique Conde Tolosa, the ambassador discussed the possibility of holding meetings between entrepreneurs from Cantabria and the Emirates.

With the representative of the Chamber of Commerce of Cantabria, Modesto Piñeiro, the possibility was raised of increasing trade, which currently stands at 9.1 million euros.
