The event will take place over five days and important agreements are expected between companies in the sector from all over the world

Spain will have an important presence at the IDEX NAVDEX defence fair in Abu Dhabi

IDEX NAVDEX

Billions of dirhams in deals between companies from all over the world are expected at the upcoming IDEX NAVDEX defence fair to be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC), the organiser of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2021) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX 2021), which will be held from 21 to 25 February 2021, already has everything ready for a fair that is warming up, and Spain will have an important presence there.

Spain will have its own pavilion, coordinated by the Spanish Association of Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technologies (Tedae), which will include nine Spanish companies: Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, Everis, Expal Systems, Grabysur, Hisdesat, Instalaza, Navantia, Tecnobit and Uro. The five-day event is a showcase for the most advanced military hardware on the planet, and deals are usually signed for a significant economic value.

IDEX NAVDEX

This year, the show will be attended by 1,000 companies covering 35,000 square metres of space in 12 exhibition halls. IDEX is the largest defence fair in the Middle East and Israel will be among the five new countries participating this year, following the famous Abraham Accords in which Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain established diplomatic ties with the Israeli state under US measurement, taking an important step towards the pacification of the region.

The defence event will also feature live military exercises and aerial displays by Al-Fursan, the UAE aerobatics team, as reported by el Correo del Golfo.  According to a Deloitte study on the outlook for the defence market in 2021, global spending is forecast to grow by approximately 2.8 per cent in 2021, exceeding $2 trillion.

IDEX NAVDEX

Through IDEX, NAVDEX and the International Defence Conference, ADNEC aims to transfer knowledge and attract global expertise in the land, maritime and air defence industries, localising knowledge in the UAE. The 15th edition of both exhibitions and the Conference are a distinguished global platform highlighting the national defence sector and its defence infrastructure. The exhibitions will showcase the latest in cutting-edge technology in these sectors, following the global innovation trends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

It should be noted that a wide range of health and safety measures have been designed and implemented at IDEX 2021, NAVDEX 2021 and the International Defence Conference to ensure the safety of all participants and visitors at this year's event due to the coronavirus health crisis. All attendees and participants will be required to follow social distancing standards and wear face masks at all venues.
