The DGSN is increased to 10,393 Moroccan Police officers for the 2024 financial year

The DGSN has promoted to 10,393 Moroccan Police officers during the 2024 exercise. This figure is equivalent to approximately 68% of the total number of candidates registered in the progress tables of the police force.
The Moroccan Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), through a statement, released these figures, which also specifies that the beneficiaries of the advancement are divided between 7,005 uniformed police officers and 3,388 civilians.
The DGSN has paid special attention to lower and middle-ranking officers, the same source points out, noting that 3,564 officers benefited from promotion to the rank of police brigadier, 1,269 to that of chief brigadier and 1,716 to that of senior police inspector.

The promotion juries for the selection were based on a comprehensive evaluation system that assesses the performance of the officers, their annual qualifications, professional competence, merit, professional career and seniority in the profession as well as in the rank. The criteria also include the nature and importance of the post and the mission performed.
The institution stresses the importance of this development and expects it to take place on an annual basis. Moreover, it considers it a key incentive to motivate police officers, women and men, to show greater commitment to the exercise of their duties, their assets and the improvement of security services.
The DGSN also reaffirms its commitment to career development as a fundamental pillar for the proper functioning of the police force.
Taking stock of 2024
It is also important to mention that in 2024, according to DGSN figures, 755,541 criminal cases were registered, an increase compared to 738,748 in 2023. On the other hand, violent crimes, which directly affect the security of civilians, decreased by 10%.
Also, the National Security Services dismantled 123 criminal networks active in organising illegal immigration and human trafficking activities in 2024, an increase of 2% compared to 2023.
In relation to offences related to the use of fraudulent means of payment and counterfeit banknotes, an increase of 32% was recorded, with 573 cases processed, of which 146 related to counterfeit currency and 472 to the counterfeiting of payment instruments and bank cards.
In addition, 504 cases related to public governance were registered in 2024, 5% less than the previous year, involving corruption and influence peddling, embezzlement, misappropriation of public money, as well as extortion and abuse of power.

DGSN projects
It is also important to note that the DGSN is working to capitalise on the achievements made in the modernisation of police infrastructure and services in response to citizens' expectations of a public police service.
Furthermore, this institution intends to strengthen and promote international cooperation in security matters, through the exchange of its experience in the field of the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
One of the projects, which is in the final stages of implementation, is the DGSN headquarters in Rabat. This structure will bring together all the directorates and services in an integrated space, taking into account the rationalisation of the human and financial resources allocated to the management of the various DGSN services at the central level.

Another project is part of the security preparations for the organisation of upcoming sporting events such as the African Cup of Nations 2025 and the World Cup in 2030. The DGSN foresees a number of projects and programmes for professional qualification and improvement of structures.
This includes the creation of new brigades and services, in particular police dog patrols in the cities of Agadir, Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech and Tangier, which will host the 2030 World Cup.
It also looks forward to full membership of the INTERPOL-supervised ‘Project Stadia’, which aims to share experiences and consolidate achievements in the field of capacity building of police services related to the organisation of major sporting events.
