Atalayar Special Edition ‘Investment Charter: The driving force behind Morocco's economy’
Atalayar publishes a special issue dedicated to Morocco's Investment Charter and its impact on the economic development of the northern región
Morocco has made enormous progress in recent years in terms of industrialisation and economic development, which is having a positive impact on the social sphere and positioning the country as an ideal destination for investment and the establishment of international companies.
The country is taking advantage of favourable factors such as its world-class infrastructure, a very young and increasingly well-educated population, and a commitment from institutions to tax benefits and facilities for companies that want to invest in the country.
The new Investment Charter, an idea proposed by King Mohammed VI in 2021 on which Morocco's economic development is based, has played a very important role in this process. It sets out the objectives of promoting national employment; reducing territorial inequalities; increasing exports; attracting investment, especially from the private sector; simplifying the investment process; and achieving sustainable development.
The special issue published by Atalayar analyses the country's strengths in attracting foreign investment, such as its favourable business climate, thanks to economic and tax benefits, as well as its privileged geographical location at the crossroads of Europe and Africa and the West and the East.
The publication analyses the mission and role of Moroccan institutions such as the Ministries of Investment and Industry; national bodies such as the AMDIE, the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, responsible for developing the “Morocco Now” strategy and brand; and the third tier, which is essential to achieving the goal of ending territorial inequalities: the Regional Investment Centres (RICs).
Atalayar also analyses the main economic sectors that have played a leading role in the country's development in recent years and their presence in the country, especially in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region: the automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, textile, outsourcing and the emerging video game and gaming industries.
