‘De cara al mundo’: international analysis on Onda Madrid

‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, analyses international current affairs on a weekly basis.

The war in Ukraine continues. Tension is rising as the calibre and range of the weapons used by the two sides increases. The launching of American and British missiles by the Ukrainians has been answered by Russia with the launching of an intercontinental ballistic missile used to deliver nuclear warheads against Dnipro.

On the other hand, there has been the first casualty in Donald Trump's team to face the presidency of the United States from 20 January. One of the most controversial candidates has fallen, the one who was going to be attorney general. There are other candidates who may suffer the same fate in the face of the anti-establishment pulse posed by the new US president.

For its part, the COP29 climate summit promoted by the UN is negotiating at the last minute a minimum agreement that will allow it to save face and move forward. Once again, funding for the least favoured countries to stop polluting is the key issue. Who pays for it? Public or private funding? Meanwhile, the host country, Azerbaijan, defends oil and gas as a gift from God.

In addition, the International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defence Minister Gallant and a Hamas leader.
