Syria is in the focus of world attention. Numerous consequences continue to follow the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's dictatorship in Syria. In the north, Turkey continues to attack positions of Kurdish groups while Israel occupies positions around the Golan Heights. In addition, bombing continues to destroy any military capability that may be inherited by the HTS rebels who have seized power.
On the other hand, NATO Secretary General Marc Rutte is stressing to allies the basic concept that if you want peace you have to prepare for war. The arrival of Donald Trump in the White House is forcing Europeans to step up their support for Ukraine and increase their defence budgets.
In Poland, French President Emmanuel Macron is proposing the creation of a 40,000-strong European peacekeeping force for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, there is concern about the state of Brazil's President Lula da Silva's health. He has had to undergo surgery again because of the consequences of the blow to the head he suffered at his residence, which has caused him serious damage. The figure of Lula in Latin America, in the BRICS and the enormous doubts about his candidacy for re-election now have a notable influence.
