‘De cara al mundo‘: international analysis on Onda Madrid

‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, analyses world news on a weekly basis.
The war in Ukraine continues. France and the United Kingdom are taking a step forward in their intention to send a peacekeeping force to Ukraine when the war ends. Meanwhile, Poland, Italy and Spain do not see this option as necessary at the moment.
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), Mark Rutte, reveals that Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish President of the Government, promised to reach 2% of GDP on defence spending this summer and warns that the difference between a Russian missile launched against Warsaw or Madrid is only 10 minutes.
For their part, Russia and Ukraine are ignoring the possible ceasefire and are continuing their attacks. Moscow is intensifying its offensives with an eye to the advantage that force would give it at the negotiating table.
Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, is now proposing a transitional government in Ukraine without Volodimir Zelenski so that elections can be held.
Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla analyses the most relevant issues on ‘De cara al mundo’.
Meanwhile, in Turkey, opponents are being persecuted. The European Union (EU) demands that the Turkish government defend democracy after the arrest of Ekrem Imamoglu. Thousands of Turks mobilise against the arrest of the mayor of Istanbul in the midst of a harsh crackdown.
As for the war in Gaza, this is the second day of demonstrations by Palestinians against Hamas. Hundreds of people are calling on Hamas to end the war so they can return to what remains of their homes, have food and medicine and the option of getting their lives back.
Demonstrations against Hamas were also held in August and September 2023, a few weeks before Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October.
Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will shed light on the key details.
As on each programme, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas; the discussion will focus on the war in Ukraine and the EU's firm stance, political persecution in Turkey and the war in Gaza.
‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 28th March from 22:05 to 23:00.
