‘De cara al mundo’: international analysis on Onda Madrid

‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, tackles world news every week.
The war in Ukraine continues. The fact that the meeting in Turkey between the parties has been scheduled, even though the Ukrainian and Russian delegations were not at the highest level, is a first step towards beginning negotiations to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Three years of war require more than just a show of leaders, as Trump intended. There are many aspects to negotiate and, above all, the urgent need to avoid a false end to the conflict, which would lead to a new war in the near future, the dimensions of which are unknown but which would certainly have very negative effects for Europeans.
Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla will offer insights into the conflict in Ukraine on ‘De cara al mundo’.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has managed to do some very good business on his tour of Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and has taken a risky political step by legitimising the new Syrian government and lifting sanctions.
The controversy has been over accepting Qatar's gift: a plane valued at 400 million dollars.
On the other hand, there is conflict in Libya. The Spaniards who were trapped in Tripoli by the fighting between government troops and militias, whose leader was assassinated a few days ago, have been able to leave and are now in Rome.
On the ground, instability could trigger a new confrontation in that part of Libya, 20% of which is controlled by the Tripoli government. In the rest of the country, in Benghazi, where security and stability prevail and where the Parliament, the other government and the armed forces led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar are located, they have been placed on alert to prevent this new crisis from affecting them, while demanding that the agreements to unify the country be fulfilled.
Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will explain the most relevant issues.
As every day, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. The discussion will focus on the war in Ukraine, Donald Trump's tour of the Gulf, the conflict in India and Pakistan, the new Pope Leo XIV and Libya.
‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 16 May from 10.05 p.m. to 11 p.m.
