‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, tackles current world affairs every week.

The Spanish President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, was left alone at the NATO summit when it came to rejecting the increase in defence spending to 5% of GDP outside the meeting. During the meeting, Sánchez did not confront US President Donald Trump or express his rejection. This situation overshadowed important points in the summit declaration.

On the other hand, Pedro Sánchez was left alone again a day later during the European Council meeting in Brussels, where his partners did not support Spain's request to suspend trade agreements with Israel because of its actions in Gaza. The Council limited itself to calling for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, EU leaders hope to reach a quick trade deal with the United States.

In addition, the war in Ukraine continues. The role of Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has not been so prominent at the NATO summit, where allies renewed their support for Kiev, but the text does not mention Ukraine's possible entry into the organisation. Meanwhile, Kiev is waiting to receive more air defences from the United States, while Russia is awaiting the arrival of more soldiers from North Korea.

Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla will provide the main insights into the conflict on ‘De cara al mundo’.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks on Hamas targets in Gaza continue and Iran begins the process of leaving the International Atomic Energy Agency. For its part, the United States is offering incentives to the Ayatollah regime to return to the negotiating table. All this is focused on the great tensions in the Middle East.

Expert international analyst Lucas Martín will analyse the most relevant issues on the programme.

As every day, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. The topics will include the NATO summit and the European Council, the conflict between Israel and Iran, and the war in Ukraine.

‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 27 June from 10.05 p.m. to 11 p.m.
