‘De cara al mundo’, the Onda Madrid programme directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, provides weekly analysis of world news.

Morocco commemorated its traditional Throne Day, which celebrates the enthronement of King Mohammed VI. Mohammed VI himself is promoting social and territorial transformation in the Moroccan kingdom, while reiterating his outstretched hand to Algeria. On the occasion of the Throne Day, the Alawite monarch approved an unprecedented pardon for more than 20,000 people, including journalists and those sentenced to death

Meanwhile, Donald Trump announced that tariffs will rise from 10% to 41%, after months of threats. The new regime, which replaces the previous one introduced in April, raises the average tariff to 19% and particularly penalises countries without bilateral agreements with the US and Canada.

Spain, like the EU bloc, remains at the 15% announced last week during the US president's visit to Scotland. Mexico secures another 90-day extension at the last minute.

Meanwhile, with regard to the war in Gaza, international efforts continue to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who are in very precarious conditions. Spain is participating in the parachute drop of humanitarian aid, an action criticised by NGOs for its danger both in terms of the fall of the packages and the fighting to obtain the food.

In addition, the war in Ukraine continues. There are more and more Russian attacks on civilian targets in several Ukrainian cities, which the government of President Volodimir Zelenski is trying to repel by attacking some regions in Russia. US President Donald Trump has criticised the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and is threatening harsh sanctions.

Journalist and correspondent María Senovilla and expert international analyst Lucas Martín will provide the most relevant insights in ‘De cara al mundo’.

As every day, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. They will discuss the Throne Day celebrations in Morocco and national progress under the reign of Mohammed VI, US tariffs and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

‘De cara al mundo’, Friday 1 August from 10.05 p.m. to 11 p.m.
