Centro Sefarad-Israel closes the 6th Erensya Summit in Morocco

On 22, 23 and 24 May, Morocco hosted the 6th Erensya Summit, a meeting organised by Centro Sefarad-Israel whose purpose is to bring together Jewish communities and institutions from all over the world with the aim of exchanging projects, deepening knowledge of the Sephardic legacy and identifying lines of collaboration for its promotion and maintenance.
On this occasion, the Erensya Summit has brought together 45 representatives of 20 Jewish communities and institutions from 12 different countries in a programme that has enjoyed the collaboration of Turespaña, the Foundation for Sephardic Culture, the Embassy of Morocco in Spain, Tourism of Castilla La Mancha, the Cervantes Institute, the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and the Embassy of Spain in Morocco.

During the three days, the participants have been received by different Moroccan authorities such as the mayoress of Casablanca or the governor of the region of Tetouan with whom they have been able to exchange impressions about the Sephardic legacy in the country. In addition, the Summit has offered a cultural programme for the general public that included the performance of the theatrical adaptation of "The Bitch Life of Juanita Narboni", a concert of Sephardic music by Mara Aranda or a round table on literature in Judeo-Spanish.

On the development of this 6th Erensya Summit, the general director of the Centro Sefarad-Israel, Jaime Moreno Bau, pointed out: "The fruitful collaboration between Spain, Morocco and the Sephardic communities has been evident in these three days".
At the end of the Summit, the participants approved the candidacy of Toledo, Cordoba and Seville to host the seventh edition of this event, which will take place in 2025.
