Emirates sends fourth medical aid to Iran in fight against pandemic

The United Arab Emirates on Saturday sent a relief plane carrying 16 tons of urgent medical supplies to Iran to reinforce the country's efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. The shipment will help approximately 16,000 medical professionals in their work to contain the virus.

This relief plane is the fourth that the United Arab Emirates has sent to Iran since March. On March 16, the United Arab Emirates sent two aid planes carrying more than 33 tons of critical medical supplies, followed by another plane on March 3 containing 7.5 tons of medical supplies in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

"The efforts of the United Arab Emirates to conduct numerous emergency medical flights to assist Iran's medical sector reflect the authenticity of the humanitarian approach of the United Arab Emirates and the spirit of tolerance and solidarity embodied in the policies of the Emirates.

"The UAE hopes that these supplies will enhance the capacity of medical personnel in Iran and provide them with greater protection.

Medical aid to Kurdistan in the fight against the plague

The United Arab Emirates sent a relief plane carrying 6 tons of medical supplies to Iraqi Kurdistan to reinforce the country's efforts to curb the spread of VIDOC-19.

The shipment will help approximately 6,000 medical professionals in their work to contain the virus.

"The shipment and additional medical aid is a testament to the UAE's continued support to the sister Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan region in all fields. Furthermore, this assistance aims to improve the capacity of medical staff and health workers to deal with the challenges of housing internally displaced persons in some areas of the region," said Ahmed Al Dhaheri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates sent an aid plane containing 6 tons of medical supplies to Iraqi Kurdistan on 28 May to support its efforts to contain VIDOC-19. The aid benefited more than 6,000 health workers to strengthen efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

To date, the United Arab Emirates has responded to the COVID-19 crisis, providing more than 980 tons of aid to 68 countries, supporting more than 980,000 medical professionals in the process.
