The Spanish Human Rights Observatory (ODHE) organised the Catalejo 2022 Awards ceremony at the Camilo José Cela University. These awards highlight the projects, initiatives and trajectories that identify and represent human rights.

In this first edition of the awards, the winners were the business group Clece, for its project "Model of labour insertion for victims of gender violence", and La Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP), for "La Liga Genuine Santander". Likewise, Jordi Cervera, long-distance swimmer, for his sporting and personal commitment to solidarity causes and putting sport at the service of fundamental human rights. His latest charity swims for Alzheimer's and ALS give visibility and raise funds for research into these diseases.

During the ceremony, the director of the ODHE, Mario Rigau, wanted to highlight the importance and significance of these awards at a time when "human rights are a point of reference for most human beings". "There are examples of companies, institutions, associations and people that we must highlight, that is the mission of the ODHE", said Rigau. The director of the Observatory ended his speech by assuring that the ODHE aims to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable people in our environment.

Rigau's words were followed by the presentation of the Catalejo 2022 Awards, which were collected by Olga de la Fuente, director of the La Liga Foundation; Cristóbal Valderas Alvarado, president of Clece; and Jordi Cervera, long-distance swimmer.

During the ceremony, Pilar Rangel, professor at the University of Malaga, and Leonor Gallardo, vice-rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, were appointed members of the ODHE Observation Committee.

The awards ceremony was attended by the rector of the Camilo José Cela University, Emilio Lora-Tamayo D'Ocon; the ex-politician and former Olympic sailor, Theresa Zabell, who conducted the ceremony; and the vice-rector of the Camilo José Cela University, Francisco López Muñoz, among others.

The Catalejo 2022 Awards brought together representatives from the business, academic and social worlds.
