Morocco will be the guest of honour at the 6th edition of the Alicante Gastronomy Fair.

The official invitation was sent to the Kingdom's Embassy in Madrid by the Casa del Mediterráneo, an institution belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based in Alicante.

The Alicante Gastronomic Fair (Alicante Gastronómica) has become the largest culinary event in Spain, where 120 Michelin stars and 10 Repsol Suns will meet this year to show the public and producers the latest trends and the different gastronomic specialities and products of the Valencian Community and the whole of Spain.

The event will be held at the Alicante Fair with gastronomic days, workshops, showcooking, competitions, tastings and product sales and will be held from 27 to 30 September.

This year's edition will feature more than 250 exhibitors and is expected to attract more than 75,000 visitors. It is jointly organised by the Alicante Provincial Council, the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the Alicante Trade Fair Association and the Valencia Tourist Office, with the support of the local government of the Valencian Community.

Morocco's participation will be the result of collaboration between the Embassy of the Kingdom in Madrid, the Agency for Development (APDN) and the Consulate of the Kingdom in Valencia.

During the four days, Moroccan participation will be aimed at promoting the culinary heritage of the North African country through the presentation of gastronomic products and a programme of culinary shows by Tangier chef Amers Bouhlal.

The fair will also feature Moroccan chef Najat Kaanache, who has trained in some of the world's best restaurants.

The opening session will be attended by high-ranking personalities such as the President of the Government of the Valencian Community, the President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, the Director General of Casa del Mediterráneo and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Madrid and, on this occasion, the Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia will host a reception in honour of the guests.

This 6th edition of Alicante Gastronómica has crossed European borders to invite a country with an aromatic, very spicy and exotic gastronomy such as Morocco, which will fill the programme of this edition with different aromas and flavours, thanks to the collaboration with Casa del Mediterráneo.
