Juan Pons joins PROA Comunicación to head the new Defence, Aeronautics, Security and Space area

PROA Comunicación, a consultancy firm specialising in designing, managing and consolidating the communication and corporate reputation of institutions and companies, as well as senior executives, has just incorporated Colonel Juan Pons to head its new Defence, Aeronautics, Security and Space area.
The newly created area of Defence, Aeronautics, Security and Space (DASE) was created as a result of the prospective analysis carried out by PROA Comunicación, which considers it appropriate to expand and consolidate its portfolio of services to the four strategic sectors mentioned above, all of them closely related and with a high growth potential. Proof of this is the increase in Defence budgets, the launch of the Aerospace PERTE and the recent creation of the Spanish Space Agency.
For Lucía Casanueva, managing partner of PROA, "integrating the knowledge and experience of Colonel Juan Pons into our team means opening the doors of the company to new capabilities, which will result in the company being able to perform strategic consultancy functions of excellence".
Juan Pons said: "It is a great satisfaction to enjoy the confidence of PROA Comunicación's management team and to have the opportunity to show that communication is a key link in the value chain of defence, aeronautics, security and space companies".
According to PROA Comunicación's analysis, Spanish society is demanding more and better knowledge of its products and initiatives from the four sectors, while the institutions and companies linked to them are trying to respond and promote mutual rapprochement. "There is a large group of entities that make up a public-private link that is an important driver of the Spanish economy, investment in R&D&I and quality employment; through communication we are going to help strengthen this value chain," said Valvanuz Serna Ruiz, managing partner of PROA.
The decision to create the DASE area and have Juan Pons head this new unit is the result of the conclusions drawn after a recent PROA Communication Observatory dedicated to the field of Defence, with the participation of Adolfo Menéndez, President of the Spanish Atlantic Association and former Undersecretary of Defence; César Ramos, Director General of the Spanish Association of Defence, Aeronautical Security and Space Technology Companies (TEDAE); and retired Admiral Juan Rodríguez Garat, an analyst specialising in the evolution of the geostrategic situation on a global scale.
Juan Pons is a retired colonel from the Spanish Army and has more than 35 years of active and continuous service in the Spanish Armed Forces. A graduate of the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, he has focused his professional military activity in the fields of logistics, teaching and communication. Colonel Pons is also a graduate of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid and holds a Diploma in Communication from the Ministry of Defence; he is also the founder and first director of the Periódico Informativo Tierra, the Army's news and reports bulletin.
He was also the founder and first director of the newspaper Armas y Cuerpos of the Academia General Militar de Zaragoza (AGM), the main academic centre for training army officers. He is the author of numerous essays, monographs, choral books and articles on the aerospace and defence industry in various electronic and print media, both national and foreign.
In the field of teaching, Juan Pons has been Colonel Director of the Military School of Education Sciences of the Ministry of Defence, as well as Professor of International Relations and Public Communication at the AGM. He was part of the organising team of the International Defence Courses in Jaca (Huesca), a joint initiative of the aforementioned Academy and the University of Zaragoza, courses for which he was head of Press. He belongs to several professional associations and is a member of the Academy of Military Sciences and Arts.
