Red Mundo Atlántico (RMA) is taking part in the event which, under the slogan "Cultural Heritage and Convergence of Cultures", will be held from 2 to 4 June in Zniyed, Tangier. It will be the 11th edition of the Mata International Festival, one of the most important equestrian events in the Mediterranean.
Mata means bareback riding, rag doll, witness... Mata is a wild, emotional, mystical race, an ancestral sport typical of Arab countries, in some the tradition is celebrated with a lamb or its skin, in Tangier it is the women who make the symbol of the fight: a doll.
This 11th edition confirms the commitment of Mr. Nabil Baraka, President of the Festival, to promote this authentic intangible heritage of northern Morocco and to serve as a meeting point for representatives of Portugal, Spain and Morocco, the three brother countries that are presenting their joint bid for the 2030 Football World Cup.
"Open to all continents, Mata is today a space for coexistence and cultural, social and economic exchange," says the festival's president, Nabil Baraka.
The 2022 edition welcomed more than 200,000 national and international visitors and attracted more than 240 riders from different tribes, with 60 cooperatives from the south and north of Morocco, as well as Mauritania, exhibiting their products.
Among the many Moroccan and African authorities who will be present, the Spanish Ambassador to Morocco, Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner Rodríguez, and a representative of the Portuguese Embassy in Morocco are expected to attend. The administrator of the Portuguese Business Association (AEP) Paulo Vaz, the president of the Atlantic World Network, Mariano Gómez-Ulla, and its executive director, Guillermo Taboada, are taking part in the event. Among the long list of guests are entrepreneurs such as Patrick Hermés and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Caveda, CEO of 3AW Global CEO of 3AW and CEO of BeHappy Investments; Blanca Rudilla Asensio, president of ACI; Carlos Reinoso, spokesperson of the Alliance for Competitiveness; Gema Correa, founder of Lycolé; sports journalists such as Siro López; prominent media such as National Geographic, Vanity Fair, Forbes, Hola, RNE, Radio Extremadura, La Razón, Castilla-La Mancha TV or Canal 22 from Mexico and influencers such as Putos Modernos, Carlos Arnelas, the painter Covadonga Tellaeche, the horseman David López del Moral, or the entrepreneur of "Amarsupiel", Ana Villaseca.
