The "la Caixa" Foundation earmarks more than 10.5 million to promote 347 social projects in Catalonia

With the aim of continuing to promote equal opportunities, improving the quality of life and responding to the emerging needs of society, the projects selected in this new edition of the call for projects fall into one of the following seven areas of action: poverty and social inclusion, people with disabilities or mental disorders, social and occupational integration, health and illness, the elderly, social action, and coexistence and interculturality. 

The funding will boost the action of the third sector and will enable 165,591 people in vulnerable situations to be attended to. Of the total, 266 initiatives are from organisations in the province of Barcelona, which will receive a contribution of 8,145,730 euros to help 129,131 people. 

"Organisations play a fundamental role in the social fabric and at the "la Caixa" Foundation we continue to support them in order to be closer to people in situations of vulnerability. In this sense, with the new resolution of the Call for Social Projects in Catalonia we want to promote as many projects as possible that have an impact on the people who need them most", emphasised the director general of the "la Caixa" Foundation, Antoni Vila Bertrán, at the presentation of the resolution of the call that took place at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum.

Also present were the deputy general manager of the "la Caixa" Foundation, Marc Simón; the territorial manager of the "la Caixa" Foundation in Catalonia, Patrícia Alocén; the territorial director of CaixaBank in Barcelona, Maria Alsina; and representatives of seven selected organisations, who presented their projects: Fundació Vicki Bernadet; TEB Barcelona SCCL; Fundació Privada Formació i Treball; Fundació Privada d'Oncologia Infantil Enriqueta Villavecchia; Alzheimer Catalunya Fundació Privada; Fundació Ajuda i Esperança i Associació Educativa Ítaca. 

Impact in the province of Barcelona 

Of the total number of initiatives selected in the "la Caixa" Foundation's Call for Social Projects Catalonia 2023, 266 initiatives correspond to organisations in the province of Barcelona, which will receive a contribution of more than 8.1 million euros to help more than 129,000 people. These selected initiatives are spread over 44 towns and cities, with Barcelona having the largest number of projects. 

A programme with 25 years of history

Between 1999 and 2023, the "la Caixa" Foundation's Calls for Social Projects have promoted 5,075 projects in Catalonia through which more than 2.6 million people have been helped, with an accumulated contribution of more than 115 million euros.
