  1. Committed to sustainable development

With the aim of contributing to the fight against poverty and inequality in developing countries through projects that improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations, the 28 projects selected fall into one of the following areas of action

  • Socio-economic development: support for local development initiatives, promotion of productive capacities for job creation and entrepreneurship, and promotion of the social economy.
  • Health improvement: basic services, primary health care and access to reproductive and maternal and child health services; control of pneumonia, malaria, COVID-19, water-borne and other communicable diseases; water and sanitation, and training of health workers.
  • Promotion of education and training: quality primary and secondary education, promotion of technical and vocational skills for youth and people with functional diversity, scholarships at all levels of training, non-formal education and literacy.

The third Call for International Cooperation will have a direct impact on projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Guatemala, with five projects selected, and the Dominican Republic, with three, are the countries where most international cooperation projects will be carried out. In addition to these, projects will be carried out in Madagascar, Nepal, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Haiti, Mozambique, Malawi, Morocco, El Salvador, Ecuador, Senegal and Mali.

The "la Caixa" Foundation, through the International Area, reinforces its commitment to international cooperation and to Spanish organisations with projects in the developing world.
