The "la Caixa" Foundation opens a new call for applications to promote social projects in Catalonia
The "la Caixa" Foundation has opened the Call for Social Projects Catalonia 2023, to which it will allocate 10.5 million euros. Until 5 October, Catalan social organisations can present their projects and apply for grants of up to 100,000 euros. This new call will pay special attention to the increase in the number of people in vulnerable situations and the worsening of the situations they suffer as a result of the economic, social, health and energy crises of recent years.
The aim of the "la Caixa" Foundation's Calls for Social Projects is to promote initiatives developed by social organisations, in this case in Catalonia, which are aimed at people in a situation of social vulnerability and whose objectives are social inclusion, the promotion of equal opportunities and the improvement of quality of life. These calls reinforce and complement the "la Caixa" Foundation's own lines of action in the social sphere in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations Agenda 2030.
Seven updated areas of action
The projects presented must be framed within one of the following areas of action, updated in this new call for proposals: the elderly, people with disabilities or mental disorders, health and illness, poverty and social inclusion, social and occupational integration, coexistence and interculturality, and social action.
Requirements and funding
The call is open to non-profit social organisations and social economy organisations whose statutes explicitly state social interest or cohesion as their main objective.
Projects may be submitted in two application modalities:
- Modality 1: up to 50,000 euros.
- Modality 2: from 50,000 euros and up to 100,000 euros.
The amount requested in both modalities must be linked to the implementation of a project with a duration of up to 12 months.
The resolution of the Call for Social Projects Catalonia 2023 will be announced during the month of March 2024.
The territorial model is consolidated
Following the territorial model initiated last year, the "la Caixa" Foundation's Calls for Social Projects are organised territorially by autonomous communities and cities. In this way, it is possible to be closer to people in situations of vulnerability and social organisations in each territory. Only the social action projects in rural areas and those of international cooperation maintain their state-wide calls for applications.
Last year, the Calls for Social Projects invested 10.6 million euros in Catalonia, distributed among 358 projects, which benefited nearly 200,000 people in situations of vulnerability. In Spain as a whole, between 1999 and 2022, the call has promoted 20,605 projects, through which 9 million people have been assisted, with a global budget of 421 million euros.
