The Municipal Police of Madrid arrested at midnight on Monday an employee of the Eurostars Madrid Tower hotel accused of committing a hate crime against the footballers of the Moroccan national football team for his comments on the social network Instagram, police sources told the EFE agency.
A Spanish worker allegedly insulted the Moroccan players as they broke their fast for the holy month of Ramadan. "Us suckers giving service to the Ramadan bullshit and their fucking bullshit beliefs," he wrote on his personal account. "Fucking Moors. I fuck Ramadan and their fucking dead".
Hours later, the employee apologised on his Facebook and Instagram accounts. "I was wrong and I apologise to the players of the Moroccan national team, the coaching staff and all the fans".
The hotel has offered "its most sincere apologies in relation to the unfortunate, reprehensible and unacceptable comments of a racist and xenophobic nature".

"The people who recorded and disseminated the video in question on their personal social networks do not belong to the hotel's staff," the communications department explained in an email. "They are external workers hired on an ad hoc basis to cover the rest of members of our staff".
The Atlas Lions are currently at the resort ahead of Tuesday's match against Peru at the Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano. It is the second match of this international break after the match in Tangiers against Brazil, whom they beat by 2 goals to 1.
