"After long months of uncertainty, Kylian Mbappé has announced to the PSG board that he has decided to leave the club this summer. The striker announced his decision on Tuesday at the Poissy training centre." Two sentences in L'Equipe to announce that his time at PSG will come to an end at the end of the league, that is to say, before he goes to France for the European Championship in Germany.

  1. Destination to be announced

Mbappé has put an end to seven years at the first club to invest in him after a spell at Monaco. It now remains to be seen how the auction to which the big European clubs will subject Lamary, the Frenchman's mother, representative and owner of his future, will end up with the highest bidder.

Destination to be announced

That his destination will be Madrid is not a safe bet. Gone are six years of attempts and an arrogant gesture in 2022 when he announced he was staying in Paris while Real Madrid threw a welcome party. Even Florentino Pérez acknowledged his astonishment at the decision, but Real Madrid won the Champions League and told the world (again) that the club is above all else.

The white team will be the one that can offer the least money to Mbappé. The same process as with Bellingham, but behind the Englishman there was a normal family with normal interests and he agreed to join the best club in Europe, even if the money wasn't raining down. In the case of Kylian, his mother is not the best person to dress him in white, Lamary has shown herself to be addicted to money and will not hesitate to take her son to the club that pays the highest transfer fee and offers the best economic conditions, regardless of the history or the crest behind it.

That has put the spotlight on the Premier League and not precisely on Manchester City. The team coached by Pep Guardiola is facing a trial with numerous charges for having breached financial fair play and its future depends on staying as it is or disappearing.

Liverpool are the big underdogs. Klopp's departure at the end of the season leaves the transfer window in limbo, but the owners have that all-American dream of making a win-win and signing Xabi Alonso and Kylian Mbappé to dominate them all and aspire to win every game in England and Europe.

Mbappé's way is the way of money. Wherever he is offered a euro more, he will go head first, no matter the destination. In his favour is the fact that the Saudi Arabian league is not the benchmark that everyone expected and many are already on the way back. Only Real Madrid and the Big Six of the Premier League are left to sign the best player in the world and the great heir to Cristiano and Messi. Barça have no part in this story, no matter how much Laporta will be selling smoke and mirrors in the coming months. A club in ruins that would have a serious sporting problem if they sign the Frenchman from Madrid.

It would also be necessary to evaluate the signing by Real Madrid from the perspective of the Superliga. The only tournament that can amortize that money and the only competition that can showcase Mbappé. Seeing him play against some Spanish La Liga opponents who have lost all interest would be a problem for Real's coffers.

Europe is on Mbappé. Real Madrid "only" puts the shield, the rest puts the money.
