The U-17 football teams of Spain, Morocco, Portugal and England meet in San Pedro del Pinatar

The Murcian town of San Pedro del Pinatar will host the Pinatar Cup from 6 to 12 September, a quadrangular football tournament in which the U-17 national teams of Spain, Morocco, Portugal and England will play against each other.
The matches will be played at the Pinatar Arena complex and will have popular prices, with tickets priced at five euros. A great opportunity to see the players of the Spanish U-17 team in action, whose coach is, since 1 August, Hernán Pérez, who has taken over from former Athletic Bilbao player Julen Guerrero.

The U-17s are coming off the back of an excellent European Championship, having been knocked out in the semi-finals by France despite taking the lead through a goal from Lamine Yamal, the youngest debutant in the Spanish league at just 15 years of age.
The tournament could be a great stage to see in action the promising young players who will excel in international football for years to come.
The competition will consist of a total of six matches and will kick off on Wednesday, 6 September, with an attractive Spain-Morocco match at 11am. The other two participating teams, England and Portugal, will play at 7pm.

On Saturday, 9 September, Spain and Portugal will play in the morning, while England and Morocco will play in the afternoon session.
On Tuesday 12th the Pinatar Cup will conclude, with the match Morocco-Portugal, at 11 am, and Spain-England, at 6 pm.
San Pedro del Pinatar is committed to grassroots football
The celebration of the Pinatar Cup is further proof of San Pedro del Pinatar's commitment to grassroots football. Just a few days ago, the mayor of the town, Ángela Gaona, and the Councillor for Sports, Pedro Antonio Vivancos, visited the facilities of the football field José Antonio Pérez in Lo Pagán, a hamlet of the municipality, whose turf has recently been replaced by an innovative compound more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

The new turf at the Lo Pagán pitch has a silica sand substrate and replaces the rubber used on artificial turf pitches with an innovative material called ecolastane, made from recycled plastic, which has many advantages over rubber.
According to the mayoress, the investment, close to 200,000 euros, represents an important improvement for the football pitch and for the clubs, schools and teams that train and play on it, such as the Base Football School or Atletico Pinatarense.

It is expected that in the coming months new football pitches will be installed on this innovative surface, for which several town councils and clubs from different parts of Spain have already expressed interest.
