Sahara needs serious and realistic political decisions
This issue is no longer just a regional conflict, but rather a measure of the international community's seriousness in supporting realistic solutions that guarantee security, development and human dignity.
Field experience has proven that the southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco are today an advanced model in sustainable development, as the major projects have turned into reality.
Dakhla, with its advanced infrastructure and ambitious investment initiatives, embodies a strategic vision that makes development a lever for regional stability and a path towards balanced African-Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
During my visit to the southern provinces last April, I closely saw the extent of developmental transformations in the Gulf of Dakhla, and the depth of societal awareness of the importance of engaging in the comprehensive national project.
This economic boom has contributed to expanding the employment of young people and improving the quality of life for the population, at a time when the residents of the Tindouf camps are still suffering under tragic conditions characterized by systematic human rights violations and deprivation of the most basic necessities.
This is confirmed by reliable international organizations. Ladies and gentlemen, the path chosen by Morocco is the path of openness and progress, in contrast to a separatist project that lost its moral and political legitimacy, and was unable to present any practical vision or a realistic horizon for a solution.
The increasing international support for the autonomy initiative - from one hundred and twenty-three countries - leaves no doubt that the only possible solution is within the framework of full Moroccan sovereignty.
It is time to bypass the policy of waiting and adopt a decisive position to end this file and restore the region's right to stability and development. It is time for the international community to stand firmly on the side of legitimacy and political realism, for a lasting peace that puts man at the center of development.
In this context, the Moroccan Autonomous Initiative remains a realistic and practical solution, which is internationally recognized, to ensure the stability of the region and the preservation of the dignity of its inhabitants.
