Awards of the House of Mexico in Malaga and Andalusia

Mexico and Spain are closer than ever. Moreover, the Aztec country is on the crest of the wave on this side of the Atlantic, positioning itself more and more throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

Not only because of the number of Mexican restaurants that are spreading, not only in Madrid and Barcelona, but also in many cities, which also shows that Spaniards love to try other flavours and enjoy good food.

But there are also more and more Aztec investors and many homebuyers of all sizes and prices: in Madrid, the Salamanca neighbourhood has seen an intense influx of wealthy Mexicans.

But other cities are no strangers to this boom either. Recently, Be Grand, an expert in the development and marketing of real estate projects, announced the construction of luxury homes in the Limonar area of Malaga. There is a market and I repeat there is an extension of interests between the two countries that is increasingly revitalised.

As part of this dynamic, the House of Mexico in Malaga and Andalusia is helping to facilitate the rapprochement between Aztec and Andalusian capital through a series of networking breakfasts and business events with the aim of promoting binational business.

It also provides the Mexican community in the Province of Malaga with a series of assistance, especially in migratory issues, so that their situation with the Immigration Office can be regularised, and also offers them economic aid and a job bank.

This private organisation, which I have the pleasure of directing as its president, is made up of Mexican business people and people from Malaga who are interested in the prosperity of Malaga and Andalusia as a whole.

The Casa de México in Málaga and Andalusia also promotes Mexican culture and has had an excellent reception not only for its great Mexican summer fiesta, but also for the celebration of Independence Day; the altars that were set up in the Hotel Larios for the Day of the Dead paid for by the hotel itself; and many people came to enjoy the snacks with pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and they did not miss the opportunity to attend the mezcal tastings of the producers who came all the way from Mexico.

There is also a solidarity work behind it: because donations are made in favour of the students. Just in December, the Ly Company Foundation bought 30 stories to make a donation to the little sick children sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House Foundation, an initiative carried out by the Casa de México in Málaga and Andalusia.

And recently, we delivered 23 pairs of shoes with 23 boxes of chocolates to students from the Cánovas del Castillo Secondary School in Malaga who are experiencing various economic difficulties. A donation that was made possible thanks to the generosity of the directors of the Hotel AC Málaga Palacio, Jorge González, Cristina Granado and Ángel García.

We have many challenges ahead of us and this year we want to give scholarships to two young people to study hairdressing and / or aesthetics so that they can have a useful tool to earn a living.

On the subject

Today, Monday, we are very excited about the presentation of the awards of the Casa de México in Malaga and Andalusia which recognises the work of different personalities and organisations.

The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country located in the Plaza de la Constitución in Malaga and the winners of this edition are: Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Malaga, who will receive the Friendship Award; as well as Mara Lezama, Governor of Quintana Roo, who will receive the Vision Award.

Other award winners are: Jorge González, director of AC Málaga Palacio, distinguished with the Solidarity Award; as well as Reyna Traverso, chef of the Cantina Niña Bonita Restaurant, awarded with the Love for Mexico Award and as an entity, the Uppery Club, with the Leadership Award. I and the entire Board of Directors are very proud to present these awards and it fills us with great satisfaction to see how much Mexico is loved in Spain and to feel with great emotion the great solidarity, overwhelming generosity and affection of the people of Andalusia. We only want Mexico to be spoken well of outside its borders and to help, help a lot, anyone who needs our help!
