Scrambled eggs

English expression for what in Spain we call scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs; which, unlike a common omelette, known in our kitchens as French, in which the parts of the egg are previously unified before being cooked in the frying pan, in this case, it is made on the fly in a hot pan, without becoming a unified and fine paste, but rather rough, not at all compact, easy to break and where the parts of the egg can be seen to be well differentiated.  

This simile can be used to define the situation in which we now find ourselves, all too generally in the political, economic, social and religious spheres, and also in international relations themselves. 

Life and its consequences in most of the world, and in Spain in particular, have become a totum revolutum in which almost no one and nothing fulfils its role. Everything has been turned upside down, there is no government, legislation, body, international organisation, alliance or treaty that fulfils its duty cleanly and concretely. 

There are already many prime ministers or presidents of governments who break the law with impunity; some play hide-and-seek with their electorates and others only seek to perpetuate themselves at the cost of any bad treatment or even betray the state they represent, their citizens or their traditions. 

The arbitrariness of the actions of dictators or aspiring dictators is so clear and obvious that it is becoming increasingly perverse, because the weakness of the so-called international community is growing every day due to the incompetence of the leaders, the weakness of international institutions or the fear of getting into major problems that could have serious consequences.  

We have reached the point where the famous expression "Laissez faire et laissez passer, le monde va de lui même", "Let the world go it alone or by itself", first used by the 18th century French physiocrat Vincent de Gournay against government interventionism in the economy, has become a reality. But, on this occasion, we have transferred the theory and the message to any internal or external activity. 

It is as if nothing plays its role, everything is mixed, nothing is compact and homogeneous. On the contrary, it is amorphous, weak and too fragile so that at any moment or at the slightest sway, it can break into many pieces.  

It is just over a year since we witnessed the takeover of the cradle of American democracy by a mob whipped up by the outgoing president himself, without anything happening so far, except for a few scapegoats who firmly believed him and have been left holding the brush, while the ladder on which they had happily climbed due to their fanaticism and lack of understanding was taken away from them.      

We have had two years of pandemic with millions of deaths, hospitals overflowing and there are still hundreds of thousands, not to say millions of deniers, who with their theories are trying to turn everything upside down, stop the economy and even topple the most solid pillars of world health, as soon as their power increases and their presence becomes more generalised. 

The economy is going through incredible ups and downs that drag millions of people into unemployment, thousands of companies are closing every hour and businesses and illusions disappear, forged with spirit and effort that will never recover no matter how much help we try to give them. 

We have governments of manipulated and unrecognisable leftists, who negotiate and support themselves with and in the main enemies of their states, with real murderers, and reproach the opposition for grouping together to confront them, denouncing the mote in the other's eye and ignoring the beam in their own.

Demoscopic polls have lost all their value, or they are manufactured specifically to deceive the unwary, capture the undecided, buy votes, or they are so inaccurate that they do not get their predictions right; and now, after the fiasco in Portugal, they even change them a few days before the elections, in order to scare the voter or always get it right, whatever happens on election day. 

In various parts of the world, and in Spain in particular, a large part of the courts of justice or elements for the arbitration of values and principles, almost the entire State Attorney's Office and, without palliatives, the Attorney General's Office itself, are clueless, annulled, bought or totally misguided.

Almost everything about them is an indecent tragala, a way of looking the other way, letting the downpour pass and not taking any notice when the government itself gives them a hard time, does not accept their decisions or changes the laws so that everything that was once white is now black in order to achieve a dirty objective without regard or concern.

There is no time to reproach the increasingly widespread corruption, which is rampant and no one is stopping it. The only ones that persist are those that once were and continue to be major scandals and even cause or motive for a false motion of censure; but now the new cases, because the protagonists are from the other side, do not cause the slightest criticism or concern among the public or in most of the media.  

The Church is offended and attacked as if it were the only one responsible for pederasty, abuses of all kinds or the hoarding of property and power; when, although it is largely to blame and has lived centuries too well, it is not the only institution that deserves punishment and some kind of review for its mismanagement in concealing certain unparalleled crises.  

In today's world, anyone can make a show of force, threaten to invade a neighbour or laugh at the world community, and nothing will happen to them. The UN is not even a shadow of its former self, a massive instrument in the hands of a rotten and inoperative UNSC with an invented right of veto for the seven biggest crooks in history.  

NATO has become a club of barking dogs, threatening, threatening, but never biting and ready to wave the white flag at the slightest threat, because it has no capabilities or will of its own and is in the hands of those who seek to solve their own problems and interests, which are increasingly often far removed from the confines or ideas of the Alliance itself. 

The EU in the international arena is neither there nor expected to be, because it is not militarily strong enough, there is no adequate or capable leader to manage this situation and it only shows some worth in economic matters, even if they are sometimes carried out without due control and agreement. 

The satraps and tyrants of the world proliferate like mushrooms; they launch missiles every week; they increase their nuclear weapons; they threaten the world or, the new fashion; they change history, offend the one who was always their soul friend and now, after more than two hundred years of independence, accuse them of being tyrants, exploiters and murderers of their own culture; when, had it not been for them, many of those who are now ranting would still be wearing loincloths and eating each other, just as their history has always been.

There are enlightened and fantasists who, in search of popularity, do not hesitate to bankrupt their country, take it out of the EU, lead it into chaos and poverty and, in addition to laughing at their citizens for such vileness, fail to fulfil their personal obligations in the middle of the pandemic and nothing happens to them but a simple bad pill, which will soon pass, as happens with everything in this distorted world run by small brains, by incapable or terrifying evildoers in search of greatness. 

In short, the world is in turmoil, very turmoil and the bad thing about all this is that every day there is more hunger, more differences between people and it is the pockets of the citizens who pay for these "great deeds" and their consequences, but, as if we were sheep, no one is capable of putting their feet on the wall and going out into the street to say enough is enough, this is a robbery and a great clumsiness.
