The applause of the sheep

If one looks up the etymology of the word "sheep", in its fourth meaning it appears as "a person who blindly obeys the will of others". And it is for this reason that this word and meaning fits like a glove to the more than embarrassing spectacle that, once again, we have had to witness when, for the last time in this legislature, Sánchez has gathered his entire parliamentary group (socialist deputies and senators), to preach once again his message justifying his personal and serious defeat, free of any self-criticism, combative and exculpatory by basing it on lies and fallacies about the results obtained by the PSOE in the last regional and local elections.

It does not matter that the party lost most of its retained seats. It does not matter that this unprecedented defeat has forced thousands of socialists who make their living from politics into unemployment in the SEPE and that, furthermore, it has been motivated by the leader himself and his determination to make the last elections a personal plebiscite, believing, like all egomaniacal sociopaths, that the majority of the people adore him, when he knows that he cannot go out on the street in any city in Spain without being booed by the people, and that in order to show his "empathy" with society, he has had to resort to mendacious videos, put together in his own image and likeness with people who belong to his circle or who have been harshly indoctrinated through brainwashing, gifts or perks.

The spectacle offered by the herd of sheep who have accompanied him and cheered him on with their applause and collective and individual warmth is hardly surprising. And I say this because, although it is quite possible that these unhappy people are only looking for a place on the new lists, it is the same herd that has facilitated with its own vote as a deputy or senator each and every one of the more than questionable and even some illegal, because they are unconstitutional, laws, decisions, decrees and tricks carried out by the deified Sánchez during the last three and a half years.

They are just as guilty as he is; don't get lost ladies and gentlemen, despite the fact that in Spain most political actions are not prosecutable by law when they are carried out in parliament or by due obedience, these sheep will not suffer any prison sentence for their misdeeds and felonies; but if they had just a little dignity, they would not have appeared on the scene or at least not applauded so loudly and ostentatiously.

They have swallowed the whole of their leader's lamentable speech, without batting an eyelid, without realising that, once again, five years after his fake motion of censure, the trickster Sánchez was deceiving them for more than one solemn reason such as: that the blame for the defeat lies fundamentally in the drift of Sanchez's politics, agreements, pacts and fixes and the personal malpractice of the arrogant, not at all credible or mendacious liar and egomaniac president; that the pacts with the ETA, after denying it up to twenty times in public, are not gratuitous; that the agreements and the shameful lowering of trousers with the Catalan coup plotters, twisting the penal code to their own convenience, are not only cowardly, but vulgar felons; that the ruin to which he has led Spain with his superfluous spending and wastefulness, will take years to be able to amend it at least minimally; that the attacks on the thousands of victims of terrorism, the Church and the institutions that are pillars of the State are pathetic, out of tune and more than shameful; that the loss of national prestige with him at the helm has reached unsuspected heights and that his abrupt and Copernican changes of opinion when it comes to taking seriously or playing with the Law, justice, education, sex, health and international politics are not only embarrassing, but also morally shattering and leave a powerful mark forever.

A person who has just legislated to ban working days when the ambient temperature is very high is putting an election in Spain at the end of July, especially when we all know that most polling stations are based in schools, educational institutes and other socio-cultural centres where air conditioning is conspicuous by its absence and is one of the main reasons why they remain closed in during the summer months and, moreover, these are dates when half of the Spanish people, with little or a lot of economic capacity, try to enjoy a few days of rest after a long and tedious year in which they have seen the cost of living rise steadily while their president has spent his time travelling like a king, spending lavishly on gifts and royalties and lying to them like a fool without dignity, compassion or restraint.

Thinking about the hardships that the elderly, the sick or the disabled who need help to get around will go through in such conditions, shows us the perverse intentionality of the choice of such a date, basically seeking the abstention of most of them and that they will desist from their intentions of kicking him out of La Moncloa; because, in trying to do so, they could endanger their integrity, their very lives, or force them to use the complex method of postal voting, a method that most of them have never used and are completely unaware of.

On a different note, a relevant piece of news has come to the fore on a prime-time radio station, which strangely enough has not received the adequate follow-up, analysis, criticism and study it deserves from the rest of the media. It seems that the aforementioned individual, despite his total disregard for what, until four days ago, was extremely important for him and for Spain - the rotating presidency of the EU - may be called to occupy the post of NATO Secretary General before the end of the year. A fact of which he must be aware and with all sorts of details and possibilities.

And I ask myself, if this is true and it happens because of a real lack of knowledge of the character, fetid and self-interested connections or because the quality of the leaders and opponents to positions of relevance in the international arena is at an all-time low, why has he set up this Nativity scene, annoying everyone if he, even if he were to be elected again, was going to go to Brussels in a few months? I believe that this is not a minor issue and that voters should take it into consideration when it comes to giving some credibility to what he habitually and falsely says, promises or proclaims.

The second edition of a Spaniard's term in office would be laughable; the first, Mr. Javier Solana, also a pro-socialist, who years before led the demonstrations under the slogan "NATO NO, BASES OUT" and now it would be the turn of the person who has repeatedly and consciously, has been deceiving NATO by reaching what was agreed years ago in Wales on defence spending - in relation to each country's GDP - and who has more than anyone else cut back on political and material support for Ukraine, which has subsequently had to join in, albeit with some quibbling, with initiatives by our allies, which has earned him the scorn of Zelenski in his latest and recent round of Western leaders.

It will be bad business for NATO if it finally realises this growing dream or rumour, because it is in for a major "pearl"; someone who, based on his record, will hardly defend the interests of the Alliance when he himself, in just five years, has internally destroyed the PSOE, divided a democratic country into two opposing parties, left Spain defenceless in the face of levantist and pro-independence coups and, externally, could not have done any worse by clearly and repeatedly dropping his trousers before our greatest natural enemy, Morocco, and, at the same time, has created another where there was none, Algeria.

A man who talks and boasts of fair play and who accuses his opponents of muddying the electoral arena, but nevertheless - with all his nerve and without any restraint - from minute one of this new electoral campaign, in a despotic and dictatorial manner, he severely insults those who do not vote for him, he has been lying and spitting procaciously and biasedly about his political adversaries or waving their "dirty laundry" around at full sail, despite the fact that, at the very least, they occurred in strange circumstances, at times of great political and media pressure - promoted by themselves - and occurred in more than past times, but he presents them as commonplace events, of clear and maximum guilt and of all actuality.
