Chaos and bad governance within the Polisario Front
Once again, we see with astonishment how the Polisario Front is losing its sense of purpose, which is even more worrying.
A few days ago, they called for a demonstration in front of the security wall built by Morocco near the Sahara border with Algeria and Mauritania. This is of course not the first time that similar acts have been encouraged by the ruling elite. In this case, the rally took place near the Mhriz area, and a large number of children took part in it, which constitutes a serious violation of the rights of minors and a total lack of ethics on the part of the adults who usually promote them. As is well known, these practices are commonplace on the part of the Polisario, even on Spanish territory, with the complicity of the local authorities and their friends in Spain, when minors land under the cover of the "Holidays in Peace" programme.
In addition to this issue, we must also denounce the serious negligence committed by these authorities, for exposing them to the health risks of the contagion of the virus which affects the entire world population, ignoring any kind of safety protocol and endangering the lives of the hundreds of people who have gathered there. In this case, not only children, but also adults. This shows, once again, the Polisario's lack of interest in preserving the welfare of the sacrificed Saharawi people who suffer from the inhospitable life in the camps.
This is not the first time that Saharawis have demonstrated in front of the wall, this time handing a letter to the members of MINURSO to convey their demands to the UN. Although on this occasion the Polisario took advantage of the difficult moment in which the camps find themselves, due to the serious events of the last few days after the macabre crime, committed by Algerian soldiers, of two Saharawis in a well in Tindouf. This leads to the need to divert the population's attention with this type of sterile assertion which only leads to unnecessary overexposure to the virus for the Saharawi population.
Parallel to this event, as part of a coordinated action with the same objective of resorting to MINURSO, the Polisario carried out another violent operation presented as a peaceful action. Specifically in the Guerguerat Pass, where they proceeded to destroy the road by opening a ditch in the asphalt and blocking it with barricades. This has led to the interruption of the free movement of hundreds of trucks and people, with the damage this causes, as it is a road of great regional and international interest.
It should not be forgotten that the Guerguerat Pass is a recurring place and a source of tension whenever the Polisario needs to attract international attention or divert it from other issues. It is worth recalling, for example, the situation in 2017, when tension in the region intensified and, despite repeated calls from the UN and its Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, the Polisario refused for months to withdraw from the area, which it finally had no choice but to do, after having raised the tension in the region to unforeseen limits under the orders of its Secretary General Brahim Ghali.
It is for this reason that this Forum of the Saharawi Canary Islands once again condemns these abominable acts with the use of children by the Polisario, the violation of their rights and the lack of protection of their health, as a result of all these actions. It also condemns the acts of vandalism perpetrated on the roads by the members who support its orders, for a cover-up of the situation that the Polisario itself is not capable of resolving, nor of offering a solution beyond the same useless proclamations to which it has accustomed us, in this eternal journey towards the nothingness in which they have been embarked for some time.
