Uprising in Iran: 88th day of protests against the execution of Majidreza Rahnavard
On Monday, December 12, on the 88th day of the uprising, despite tight security in Mashhad, after the announcement of the execution of the martyr Majidreza Rahnavard, people visited his grave and laid flowers on it, chanting "beloved of the country" and "martyr of the motherland". Rallies were held in various parts of Mashhad. In Tehran, demonstrations were held with cries of "you took Majidreza away and you are bringing back his corpse". In this regard, students demonstrated at Sharif, Allameh and Melli universities in Tehran and Noshirvani in Babol.
Students at Tehran School of Music and Fine Arts sang the traditional song "mother, mother, it's time for war, time to be the friend of guns". Students at the Ibn Sina building of Sharif University honoured the memory of executed martyrs Mohsen Shekari and Majidreza Rahnavard by lighting candles and displaying their photos. Babol students also pasted the photos of the two martyrs in the classrooms and corridors of the university. Arts students in Allameh gathered to protest against the execution of the young insurgents and the suspension and banning of students, chanting "salute to the victims of the gallows, Navid, Mohsen and their comrades", "freedom, freedom, freedom" and "we don't want a security university". The students demonstrated in Mashhad, Shiraz and Jakigur of Rask in Sistan-Baluchistan province.
On Monday night, courageous residents of many cities took to the streets, including Tehran and Mashhad to demonstrate, chanting "this is the last message, execute and it's an uprising". In the city of Ekbatan in Tehran, people protested at night, chanting "for every person killed, a thousand more rise up". In Jannat Abad in the capital, there was a night-time demonstration shouting "down with the dictator" and in another neighbourhood, people chanted "Khamenei scum, author of all crimes". Other districts of Tehran, such as Narmak, Sattar-Khan and Chitgar, were the scene of demonstrations against the execution of Majidreza with the slogans "Khamenei murderer, his regime is illegitimate", "Khamenei seditious, great leader of Daech" and "we know who is behind this, pasdarans is Daech and vice versa". In the Hechmatieh district of Tehran, slogans against the government were shouted from buildings.
A night demonstration took place in Mashhad in the Ahmadabad area. The courageous youth demonstrated in the streets with the slogan "pasdarans, Bassidj militiamen, you are our Daech". The slogans "Khamenei murderer, his regime is illegitimate" echoed in the tall buildings of Mashhad.
On Tuesday morning, the residents of Javanroud took to the streets to gather in front of the governorate to protest against the arrest of the Sunni Friday imam at the Hamzeh mosque and the sealing of the shops of striking traders by the security forces.
