Mohammed VI in Palestine

For the moment, the risk of a generalized and uncontrolled escalation of the confrontations in the Middle East has been contained.

Undoubtedly, it is possible that everything could blow up if there is someone especially determined to provoke it, as happened with the terrorist attacks against Israel on October 7.

But, we insist on the circumstantial nature of these statements, the danger of an open war between Israel and Iran, each backed by its allies, does not seem to be a viable option for either side. This does not detract from the fact that Israel continues to pursue its goal of eliminating Hamas from Gaza and other Tehran-backed groups in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq or Syria, despite the high cost in human lives involved, both of Palestinian civilians who are used as human shields by Hamas and other terrorist organizations, and of Israeli soldiers in their house-to-house fighting and in the tunnels in search of hostages.

The Palestinian population, mostly kidnapped and repressed by the Hamas dictatorship in Gaza since 2007, suffers the harshest consequences of the conflict with Israel. In the negotiations for a cease-fire, the entry of humanitarian aid, the release of Israeli hostages and jihadist prisoners, the most important stumbling block has been the lack of trust and reliability between the parties. However, a very relevant event has taken place this week. The arrival by land, through a place other than the Rafah crossing in the south of the Gaza Strip, of a convoy of more than 60 tons of food and humanitarian aid organized, financed and carried out at the initiative of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

This is not the first initiative of the Moroccan monarch who, in his capacity as chairman of the Al Quds Committee, has also launched a major aid campaign in several neighborhoods of the holy city of Al Quds in Jerusalem through the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency.

Mohammed VI's action is part of a long tradition of active and concrete solidarity with Palestine and the continuity of his concern for the Palestinian people and its defense with quick and effective positions, as well as clear, unwavering and irreversible, say sources close to him.

In this sense, Moroccan solidarity is not dictated by circumstances, but remains constant and permanent because the writings of historians attest that the Moroccan presence in Al Quds and Palestine dates back more than 1,000 years, this assistance is further proof that Morocco is a country committed to Palestine and faithful to its traditions. The threat to the stability of Arab and Muslim countries lies in the radical ideology and authoritarian interests of those who support groups like Hamas.

In the present times what counts is what is called the narrative, the impression and the generalized opinion about what is happening and in this context the populist propaganda of those who support the terrorist groups, under the cover of the Palestinian cause, has been imposing itself through the manipulation of the facts.  However, beyond the harsh reality of the cost in human lives of the strategy of confrontation orchestrated by Iranian interests and the desires of destabilization of the Muslim Brotherhood in the different countries, the forceful and at the same time contained and concentrated response in the appropriate focuses by allies such as the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries against the attacks of the Houthis in Yemen adequately localize the threat and neutralize it, although the effects on international trade are being felt. This has also been the case in Iraq where the Americans have responded to pro-Iranian militia attacks.

It is necessary, although not easy, to discern between the Palestinian cause and the real threat faced by Western countries and Arab and Muslim countries with the terrorist militias backed by Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood and with the collaboration of Russia and some governments of Latin American countries, which use the situation in their interest to wear down the United States and Europe.
