Arrogance
"And do not walk on the earth with boasting, for in this way you cannot cleave the earth nor equal the mountains in height" (17:38).
"To Pharaoh and his leaders; but they behaved arrogantly. They were haughty people". (24:37)
"And do not turn away your face from the people in pride, nor walk through the land in haughtiness; verily Al'lah loves no arrogant boaster." (31:19)
Giving the wrong measure
"Woe to those who give a meagre measure! Those who, when they take the measure of others, fill up the measure; but when they measure others or weigh them, they give them too little". (83:2-4)
To nickname
"O you believers! Let not one people mock another, who may be better than they, nor let women mock other women, who may be better than they, or slander your own people, nor mock one another by nicknames. Evil indeed is it to gain a bad reputation after professing faith; and those who do not repent are the wicked." (49:12)
Greed
"Who are greedy and incite others to be stingy, and conceal what Al'lah has given them of His magnanimity. And for those who disbelieve, We have prepared a humiliating punishment." (4:38)
"Behold, you are the ones called to spend in the cause of Al'lah, though among you there are some who are stingy; but he who is stingy is only stingy against his own soul. Al'lah is Self-Sufficient and you are the needy. But if ye turn your backs, He will bring in your place a different people who will not be like you." (47:39)
"And those who had made their home in this city before them and had accepted the faith, love those who came to them for refuge, and find no desire in their hearts for what is given to them (the Refugees), but prefer others rather than themselves, though poverty be their own lot. For those who rid themselves of the lust of their own souls, those are the ones who will succeed". (59:10)
(Other verses related to this theme: 64:17. See the digital edition of the Holy Quran in English).
Perfidy
"We have indeed revealed to you the Book containing the truth, that you may judge between men by means of what Al'lah has taught you. And defend not the cause of those who betray trust." (4:106)
"Do not advocate for those who are dishonest with themselves. Verily, Al'lah loves not one who is perfidious and a great sinner." (4:108)
(Other verses related to this topic: 8:28,59. See the digital edition of the Holy Quran in English).
Misgivings
"O you believers! Avoid suspicion as much as possible; for some suspicions are indeed a sin. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his deceased brother? Surely it would be repugnant to you. And fear Al'lah, for verily Al'lah is the Remiscerer with compassion, and He is Merciful". (49:13)
Lie
"Such is the commandment of God. And whoever honours the sacred things of Al'lah, it will be better for him before his Lord. And cattle is lawful for you, but not that which has been announced to you. So abstain from the uncleanness of idols and avoid false speech." (22:31)
"And those who do not bear false witness, and when they pass by something frivolous, they do so with dignity". (25:73)
With these verses we end the chapter on Social Peace.
(We will continue with installment 34 which will deal with Socio-Economic Peace, انشاءاللہ).
