Córdoba and Morocco seal a new cultural alliance with the creation of the Fatima Al Fihri Chair

A new historic agreement between Morocco and Spain. This time, the University of Córdoba (UCO) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Spain have signed an agreement that will promote the creation of the Fatima Al-Fihri Chair of Spanish-Moroccan Relations, an initiative aimed at fostering mutual understanding, cultural exchange and research collaboration between Spain and Morocco.
The agreement, signed by the rector of the UCO, Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez; and the Moroccan Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, was attended by the Moroccan Minister Plenipotentiary, Mohamed El Amin Setti, and the Embassy Counsellor, Brahim Braougui, and was signed at a ceremony held in the emblematic Mudéjar Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Córdoba.
On behalf of the University of Cordoba, the rector was accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Equality, Inclusion and Social Commitment, Sara Pinzi; Professor María Rosal; Professor Lucía Cabrera Romero; and the president of the Andalusian-Moroccan Friendship Association - Ibn Rushd Forum, the writer José Sarria Cuevas.
The name of the new Chair was chosen as a tribute to the 9th-century founder of the al-Qarawiyyin madrasa, one of the oldest universities in history, and as a symbol of the female legacy in the culture of knowledge and the construction of culture.
The Chair will carry out academic, cultural and educational activities to promote cooperation between experts, analysts, researchers and students from Morocco and Spain.
